🌿🚛 5,800 POUNDS OF WEED?! ILLINOIS STATE POLICE JUST INTERRUPTED ONE HELL OF A DELIVERY

LASALLE COUNTY, IL 🍃 Listen... marijuana may be legal in Illinois, but apparently somebody forgot there's a difference between having some weed and having enough weed to require PALLETS.

Illinois State Police say a commercial vehicle stop on I-80 near LaSalle County turned into a massive cannabis bust after troopers discovered more than 5,800 pounds of suspected marijuana and cannabis products inside a semi-truck.

Baby.

5,800 POUNDS?!

That's not somebody's personal supply. That's a whole agricultural department riding down the interstate. 😭🌿

🚨 THE SEMI GOT STOPPED

The stop happened Friday, September 4, shortly after 11:30 in the morning.

A trooper assigned to commercial vehicle enforcement stopped the eastbound semi, and the investigation eventually led police to what they say were multiple pallets packed with cannabis and cannabis products.

Imagine opening that trailer.

Officer probably said, "Well... this ain't furniture." 😂

And whatever plans that load allegedly had for the weekend?

CANCELED.

👀 TWO MEN NOW FACING SERIOUS CHARGES

Police arrested 41-year-old Mahmoud B. Barzouk of Norridge and 45-year-old Haed O. Samham of Harwood Heights.

Both men were taken to the LaSalle County Jail and accused of cannabis trafficking, which is a Class X felony in Illinois.

And yes, cannabis is legal for adults in Illinois.

But legalization did NOT mean:

"Congratulations! You may now drive around with three tons of it."

Sir. 😭

There are still strict laws governing how much cannabis a person can possess, how it's transported and who is legally authorized to distribute it.

💰 HOW MUCH WAS ALL THAT WEED WORTH?

Authorities haven't announced an official dollar value for the seizure, so 730 BOOM isn't about to sprinkle some imaginary street value on the story just to make the headline louder.

5,800 pounds is already loud enough.

The scale needed to weigh that mess probably needed a lunch break.

And somewhere somebody was waiting on a delivery that is NEVER coming.

The criminal charges remain allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
