🏈 COLIN KAEPERNICK SAYS THE NFL IS STILL BLACKBALLING HIM... AND NOW HE'S GOT SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT JAY-Z TOO 👀

Ten years later and Colin Kaepernick says AIN'T A DAMN THING CHANGED.

A decade after his decision to kneel during the national anthem turned an NFL quarterback into the center of a national conversation about police brutality and racial injustice, Kaepernick says he believes the league is still actively blackballing him.

And while we're opening old wounds, Jay-Z's name just got pulled back into the conversation too.

In a new interview with NBC News ahead of the release of his memoir The Perilous Fight, Kaepernick said he doesn't even watch NFL games anymore.

Why?

Because according to Kaep, why support the organization you believe kicked you out?

“I’m not gonna support an organization that, one, is actively blackballing me, but two, has targeted my brothers who have been protesting as part of this as well.”

He says he watches college football instead. 

Translation?

Y'all won't let me play? I ain't giving y'all my Sunday ratings either. 😭

🏈 TEN YEARS LATER AND KAEP STILL HASN'T PLAYED ANOTHER NFL GAME

Let's rewind.

In 2016, Kaepernick began protesting during the national anthem to call attention to police brutality and racial injustice.

After that season, he became a free agent.

And he never played another NFL game.

Kaepernick and former teammate Eric Reid eventually filed a grievance accusing NFL owners of colluding to keep them out of the league. The case was settled in 2019. The NFL has denied allegations that it blackballed Kaepernick.

Now 38, Kaepernick says he still trains and remains convinced his disappearance from the league wasn't simply about football.

And COME ON NOW.

This man helped take the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl, then somehow couldn't find ONE NFL team willing to give him another real shot?

Not starter.

Not backup.

Not “come hold this clipboard, Colin.”

NOTHING?! 👀

You can understand why he's still looking at the NFL sideways.

👀 NOW HERE COMES JAY-Z...

This part gets a little spicy.

Because once upon a time, Jay-Z publicly supported Kaepernick.

Jay wore a Kaepernick jersey during a 2017 Saturday Night Live performance and dedicated “The Story of O.J.” to him during another performance.

Then 2019 happened.

Jay-Z's Roc Nation entered a partnership with the NFL involving entertainment, including the Super Bowl halftime show, as well as the league's social-justice initiatives.

And people IMMEDIATELY said:

WAIT A MINUTE.

How you go from standing with the man protesting the NFL...

to doing business with the NFL while that same man still can't get a job there? 👀

At the time, Jay defended the partnership and said the conversation needed to progress from kneeling toward action.

Kaepernick apparently never forgot that.

😳 KAEPERNICK SAYS JAY HAS A “GUILTY CONSCIENCE”

Fast-forward to July 2026.

During a Yankee Stadium performance, Jay-Z addressed criticism surrounding his business relationship with Target and unexpectedly brought up Kaepernick.

Jay suggested Kaepernick took money in his NFL settlement and had to sign a non-disparagement agreement.

Except Kaepernick says:

THAT AIN'T TRUE.

Kaepernick told NBC News he did not sign a non-disparagement agreement as part of his NFL settlement.

And now he's questioning why Jay is still talking about him seven years after the Roc Nation/NFL controversy.

Kaepernick said he views it as evidence of a:

“guilty conscience.” 👀

He argued that Jay received serious backlash for partnering with the NFL in 2019 and believes Jay is now trying to reposition or reframe that history. 

BABY...

That wasn't a football pass.

THAT WAS A DART. 🎯😂

🚨 COLIN ALSO REVEALED WHAT HE SAYS HE TOLD JAY ABOUT THE NFL DEAL

According to Kaepernick's account in his upcoming memoir, Jay told him about the NFL partnership after the agreement had already been made.

Kaepernick says he warned Jay that the league didn't genuinely care about him and believed the NFL wanted a prominent Black figure associated with its response to the protests.

And that makes the whole story even more interesting.

Because these two weren't always enemies.

Jay publicly supported Kaepernick.

Then Jay partnered with the NFL.

Then Jay mentioned Kaepernick in a 2026 freestyle.

And now Kaepernick is basically saying:

Sir... if you're so comfortable with what you did, WHY ARE YOU STILL EXPLAINING IT SEVEN YEARS LATER? 😭

🗣️ BUT THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO THAT JAY-Z ARGUMENT

Jay's position has essentially been that protest brought attention to the problem, but eventually somebody had to get inside the room and push for tangible action.

The NFL says its Inspire Change initiative has contributed more than $575 million toward social-justice-related efforts since 2017.

So somebody could reasonably argue:

Jay got in the room and used the relationship to create opportunities and direct resources toward communities.

Kaepernick's response?

He told NBC he doesn't believe the NFL has materially changed, saying its actions haven't convinced him otherwise.

And THAT is really the argument underneath all of this.

Is change accomplished by refusing to cooperate with the institution?

Or by getting inside the institution and trying to change it?

Kaepernick chose protest.

Jay chose partnership.

And ten years later, those two roads are STILL colliding.

✊🏾 AND Kaepernick STILL AIN'T BACKING DOWN

Whatever anybody thinks about the kneeling controversy, one thing is difficult to argue:

Colin Kaepernick knew that taking that stand could cost him something.

And it did.

He hasn't played an NFL game since the 2016 season.

But instead of disappearing, he's continued his activism through initiatives including Know Your Rights Camp, and his memoir The Perilous Fight is scheduled for release September 15.

So ten years after the knee...

Kaepernick is still talking.

Still protesting.

Still working.

Still training.

And apparently...

STILL NOT WATCHING THE DAMN NFL. 😂🏈

As for him and Jay-Z?

Baby, that friendship looks like it has been placed on IR indefinitely.
