🚨 CPD WARNS WOMEN AFTER 3 SEXUAL ABUSE ATTACKS WITHIN ONE HOUR ON CHICAGO’S NORTHWEST SIDE

Chicago police are warning residents after three women were sexually abused in separate attacks within the same one-hour period in the Avondale neighborhood.

According to CPD, all three attacks happened Friday, September 11, between approximately 8 and 9 p.m.

Police say an unidentified man approached the women from behind, wrapped his arms around them and grabbed them over their clothing before fleeing.

The attacks were reported in the:

3400 block of North Springfield Avenue

3900 block of West Cornelia Avenue

3300 block of North Avers Avenue

Three women.

Three separate locations.

All within roughly an hour.

And as of the latest publicly available police information, investigators were still looking for the person responsible.

🚨 POLICE RELEASE DESCRIPTION

CPD described the suspect as a Hispanic man between approximately 20 and 40 years old, with a medium-to-dark complexion.

He was reportedly wearing a dark baseball-style cap, dark polo-style shirt with red stripes across the chest, dark shorts, black socks and white athletic shoes.

Police say that after one of the attacks, the man was seen leaving in a red sedan.

⚠️ AND THERE'S A SEPARATE CTA WARNING

CPD has also issued a warning about a different sexual abuse incident on the CTA Blue Line.

Police say a man boarded at Cumberland, traveled to the Division Blue Line station in Wicker Park, waited for a woman to exit and then ran toward her and grabbed her as she walked up the stairs.

She was able to get away, and the man fled.

That incident happened around 6:10 p.m. on September 5. Police have released images of the person they're seeking in that case.

Police have not publicly established that the Blue Line incident and the three Avondale attacks were committed by the same person, so these should be treated as separate investigations unless CPD says otherwise.

Ladies, I'm not about to tell you that you shouldn't walk alone, shouldn't wear this, shouldn't go there or shouldn't be outside after a certain hour.

No.

Women have the right to walk through their own damn neighborhood without somebody putting their hands on them.

The responsibility belongs to the person committing the assault.

But until police catch whoever is responsible, pay attention to what's happening around you, especially if you're walking through Avondale or using the CTA alone. If something doesn't feel right, get somewhere populated, call for help and report suspicious behavior.

And Chicago, if you recognize the description, vehicle or someone matching the images released in the separate Blue Line investigation, don't play detective yourself. Contact police.

Because three women being attacked within one hour isn't something we scroll past.
