DIDDY, TUPAC & THE $1 MILLION CLAIM: WHY HIS NAME KEEPS POPPING UP IN THE KEFFE D TRIAL 👀

Baby, if you've been following the Tupac murder trial with us, you already know we've had gang testimony, reluctant witnesses, courtroom fireworks and Tupac's family having to relive one of the worst moments of their lives.

But now there's another name floating around this case that has followed Tupac's murder for YEARS:

SEAN “DIDDY” COMBS.

And before social media turns “Diddy's name came up” into “Diddy is going to prison for Tupac,” let Lady Red put the brakes on that Cadillac.

🚨 DIDDY HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH TUPAC'S MURDER.

But there is a reason his name is tangled up in this story.

And baby...

IT GOES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THAT EAST COAST/WEST COAST MESS.

🎤 FIRST, WHY IS KEFFE D ON TRIAL?

Duane “Keffe D” Davis is accused of orchestrating the September 1996 drive-by shooting that killed Tupac Shakur.

Prosecutors say Tupac and members of his entourage attacked Keffe D's nephew, Orlando Anderson, inside the MGM Grand following the Mike Tyson fight.

According to prosecutors, Keffe D and others then sought revenge. Tupac was later shot while riding in a BMW driven by Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Tupac died six days later.

Keffe D has pleaded not guilty.

And prosecutors aren't claiming Keffe D personally pulled the trigger. They're accusing him of helping organize the retaliation and supplying the gun used in the attack.

💰 OKAY... SO HOW DID DIDDY GET PULLED INTO THIS?!

Here's where things get spicy, but we have to separate allegations from proven facts.

Keffe D has previously alleged that Sean “Diddy” Combs offered $1 million for Tupac and Suge Knight to be killed.

That allegation has circulated for years and appeared in connection with statements Keffe D made during law-enforcement interviews. Court filings in the case have also discussed Davis implicating Combs.

Diddy has denied involvement in Tupac's killing.

And most importantly:

NO COURT HAS FOUND DIDDY RESPONSIBLE FOR TUPAC'S MURDER, AND HE HAS NOT BEEN CRIMINALLY CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH IT.

So we're not about to turn an allegation into a conviction because Facebook got excited.

But BABY...

A MILLION-DOLLAR ALLEGED BOUNTY?!

That's why everybody's ears went:

“EXCUSE ME... COME AGAIN?!” 👀

🎙️ AND KEFFE D'S OLD INTERVIEWS MATTER

This is where this trial could get VERY interesting.

Keffe D gave law enforcement an interview in 2008, years before he was arrested for Tupac's murder.

A Nevada judge ruled that prosecutors can use that interview at his trial. Prosecutors are also allowed to use his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, along with other statements he made publicly over the years.

And THAT is a major part of the prosecution's case.

Because prosecutors essentially have years of Keffe D talking about Tupac's murder.

His defense?

They argue those statements don't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crime and have challenged how some of his earlier statements were obtained and whether they should be admissible.

Baby...

Imagine spending YEARS talking about one of the most famous unsolved murders in music history...

Then sitting in court while prosecutors start pressing PLAY.

👀 SO COULD THE TRIAL ACTUALLY CAUSE TROUBLE FOR DIDDY?

Potentially, if credible new evidence emerges.

But that's a gigantic IF.

Someone repeating an accusation about Diddy under oath does not automatically mean prosecutors can charge him.

Investigators would need evidence capable of supporting criminal charges, and prosecutors would ultimately have to prove any case they brought.

Right now, Keffe D is the defendant.

Diddy is not.

That's the distinction social media is about to lose somewhere between TikTok and somebody's cousin's Facebook page. 😭

🚗 AND THEN THERE'S SUGE KNIGHT... THE MAN WHO WAS ACTUALLY IN THE CAR

Now THIS could become one of the biggest moments of the entire trial.

Suge Knight is on the prosecution's potential witness list. 

Remember:

Suge wasn't hearing about this shooting afterward.

HE WAS THERE.

He was driving the BMW.

Tupac was sitting beside him.

Shots were fired into that vehicle.

Suge survived.

That makes him an extraordinarily important surviving eyewitness.

Reuters reports that Knight may testify during the trial.

There's just one little problem...

SUGE DOESN'T WANT TO. 😭

Knight has publicly said he doesn't want to testify and essentially wants to be left out of the case.

Sir...

You were driving the car.

This ain't exactly:

“I heard something from my cousin's barber.”

YOU WERE IN THE BMW. 😭

If prosecutors actually put Suge Knight on that witness stand, everybody covering this trial is going to sit UP.

Because he can potentially speak directly about what he saw and experienced that night.

Whether he would identify anyone, cooperate with prosecutors or provide testimony helpful to either side is another question entirely.

Being on a potential witness list doesn't guarantee he'll ultimately testify.

🤔 AND HERE'S WHAT MAKES THIS WHOLE CASE SO CRAZY

Nearly 30 YEARS have passed.

People died.

Memories faded.

Stories changed.

Witnesses don't want to talk.

Keffe D gave interviews.

Keffe D wrote a book.

Documentaries were made.

Everybody and their uncle made a Tupac conspiracy video.

And now prosecutors finally have a defendant sitting in a Las Vegas courtroom.

We've already seen how difficult that history makes this case. One witness, former Suge Knight associate James McDonald, openly resisted answering questions and said he wasn't interested in helping send Keffe D to prison.

So prosecutors aren't just fighting the defense.

They're dealing with 30 years of street loyalties, dead witnesses, reluctant witnesses and conflicting stories.

🔴 LADY RED SAYS...

THIS is why I'm watching this trial.

Not because I believe every conspiracy theory somebody uploaded to YouTube in 2009.

I want to see:

WHAT CAN ACTUALLY BE PROVEN IN COURT?

If Diddy's name comes up, show the evidence.

If Keffe D made the allegation, let's hear exactly what he said and the circumstances under which he said it.

If prosecutors have corroboration?

SHOW IT.

If they don't?

Then an allegation remains an allegation.

And if they put Suge Knight on that witness stand?

Baby...

CLEAR MY CALENDAR. 😭🍿

Because after almost three decades of people asking “WHO KILLED TUPAC?”, we finally have witnesses answering questions under oath instead of rappers, bloggers, documentaries and everybody's neighborhood conspiracy specialist telling us what they heard.

And as for Diddy?

His name being connected to allegations surrounding this case is certainly newsworthy.

But until evidence establishes otherwise:

DIDDY IS NOT ON TRIAL FOR TUPAC'S MURDER. KEFFE D IS.

Don't let a juicy headline erase that fact.
