Some stories don't need jokes. They just need love.

Music legend Lionel Richie is taking some much-needed time away from the stage after undergoing a heart procedure to treat atrial fibrillation, commonly called AFib. The 77-year-old singer's representative confirmed Tuesday that the procedure went well and that Richie is doing well, but will rest before returning to performing.

And from everybody at 730 BOOM Radio, we're sending Lionel Richie nothing but prayers, love and healing energy. ❤️

🎶 THE MUSIC CAN WAIT. TAKE CARE OF LIONEL.

Richie has been touring with Earth, Wind & Fire on their Sing a Song All Night Long tour, but his health has interrupted the road several times this summer.

In June, Richie became dizzy during a performance in St. Paul and had to end the show early. Then in late August, he checked himself into a St. Louis hospital for testing after another performance. Now his team has revealed that Richie underwent treatment for AFib, an irregular heart rhythm.

His representative shared encouraging news following the procedure, saying doctors reported that everything went well and that Richie plans to return to the stage after taking time to recover.

That's the part we're holding onto.

💔 CHICAGO, WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER

This one hits especially close to home for Chicago fans.

Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire were scheduled to perform at the United Center on September 30, but that show is among three upcoming tour stops affected as Richie recovers. San Francisco and Columbus are also impacted.

And yes, people have tickets. People made plans. Some folks have probably already bought the outfit.

But the concert can wait.

Lionel's health can't.

There will always be another night for the lights to come up, another band intro and another arena full of people singing along.

Right now, we just want the man responsible for decades of memories to get healthy.

❤️ LIONEL RICHIE HAS BEEN PART OF OUR LIVES FOR GENERATIONS

From his years with The Commodores to a solo career filled with songs that became part of weddings, cookouts, quiet-storm radio and family memories, Lionel Richie isn't simply another artist passing through town.

For a whole lot of us, Lionel Richie is attached to somebody we remember.

You hear one song and suddenly you're back in your mother's living room.

Another comes on and you're remembering somebody you danced with 30 years ago.

That's what great music does.

And Lionel has given us more than enough of it to last while he takes care of himself.

🙏🏾 FROM 730 BOOM RADIO: REST, HEAL & COME BACK WHEN YOU'RE READY

Lionel, don't worry about Chicago.

We'll be here.

Don't worry about the stage.

It'll be there.

Don't worry about entertaining us right now.

You've been doing that for more than half a century.

Take your time. Listen to your doctors. Rest that body and let your heart heal.

When you're ready to tell us “Hello” again, we'll be ready to answer. ❤️‍🩹

From Lady Red and the entire 730 BOOM Radio family, we're wishing Lionel Richie a safe, peaceful and complete recovery.

Get well soon, legend. 🙏🏾❤️
