Chicago, somebody go find that old silk shirt, because Jodeci is coming through town and the soundtrack to a whole lot of grown-folk memories just got a live appointment. The R&B group brings its 35th-anniversary celebration of Forever My Lady to the Arie Crown Theater on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with the show listed for 8 p.m.

THIRTY-FIVE YEARS LATER, AND THE SONGS STILL KNOW YOUR BUSINESS

Released in 1991, Forever My Lady helped establish Jodeci as one of the defining R&B acts of the decade. K-Ci, JoJo, DeVanté Swing and Mr. Dalvin mixed gospel-rooted vocals, hip-hop attitude and emotional drama into a sound that refused to stay politely in the background. These weren't songs designed to play while everybody quietly checked email. They demanded a reaction.

The album gave listeners records including Forever My Lady, Stay and Come and Talk to Me. Each one found its own permanent address in R&B history. If you grew up with the music, you already know the difference between simply hearing a Jodeci song and suddenly remembering exactly who you were talking to when it first came out. Some memories come with a chorus and absolutely no warning.

CHICAGO GETS THE SATURDAY-NIGHT STOP

The group's official tour schedule, the Arie Crown Theater calendar and the ticketing listing all identify Chicago as the November 7 stop. The venue is at McCormick Place, and the scheduled start time is 8 p.m. The tour then continues to Indianapolis on November 8, followed by Cincinnati and other cities.

For Chicago, a city with its own deep R&B and house-music traditions, a Jodeci night is more than an exercise in nostalgia. It's a reminder of an era when a slow jam could become a neighborhood event, a radio dedication could start a conversation, and a single opening note could make everybody in the car turn up the volume.

THIS IS AN ANNIVERSARY, NOT A TIME MACHINE

The title celebrates the album's 35th anniversary, but fans should not assume every song from Forever My Lady will appear in a fixed order. In an interview ahead of the tour, members K-Ci and Dalvin discussed keeping the live show moving and acknowledged that the set list can change. That means the catalog gets celebrated without promising a note-for-note replay of 1991.

That's probably for the best. Jodeci's story extends beyond one album, and audiences know the group for an entire run of influential R&B. The challenge for any anniversary show is balancing the songs everybody came to hear with the energy of a real performance happening now, not a museum exhibit with a microphone.

WHAT FANS SHOULD KNOW

The November 7 Chicago concert is listed for 8 p.m. at Arie Crown Theater. Ticket availability, entry requirements and any schedule changes should be checked with the venue or official ticket seller before traveling. Mobile tickets are supported through the event's ticketing provider.

730 BOOM RADIO'S FINAL WORD

Thirty-five years after Forever My Lady, Jodeci can still make an entire room remember why R&B needed both a little church and a little trouble in the same song. Chicago, tonight's the night to sing along, remember your favorite track and perhaps reconsider texting the person you used to dedicate it to. Some songs age beautifully. Some decisions should stay in 1991.
