🚨 3 GIRLS CHARGED AFTER ALLEGED SCHOOL SHOOTING THREAT: 730 BOOM ASKS, WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO OUR CHILDREN?

ADDISON, ILLINOIS... I need the grown folks to come to the front for this one, because I'm not about to make jokes when we're talking about children, schools and guns.

Three girls have reportedly been charged after authorities say they were connected to a shooting threat involving Addison Trail Junior High School.

And my first reaction was:

WHAT THE HELL?!

These are little girls.

When did childhood start looking like the damn O.K. Corral?

School is supposed to be where you're worried about homework, who you're sitting next to at lunch, whether your crush likes you back and why the teacher assigned a whole project over the weekend.

NOT SHOOTING SOMEBODY.

💔 OUR CHILDREN ARE GROWING UP AROUND TOO MUCH VIOLENCE

I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know what was happening inside these girls' homes or heads. I don't.

And being charged does not mean someone has been proven guilty.

But allegations involving children threatening gun violence should make every adult pay attention.

Because something is wrong when children begin treating threats of deadly violence like regular conflict.

You mad at somebody?

Tell somebody.

You got bullied?

Tell somebody.

Somebody threatened you?

TELL SOMEBODY.

But this idea that every disagreement has to turn into “I'll shoot you” has got to stop.

A GUN IS NOT CONFLICT RESOLUTION.

❤️ PARENTS, LOVE YOUR CHILDREN OUT LOUD

And this is where Lady Red is talking directly to parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, guardians, teachers and every adult raising a child.

LOVE YOUR KIDS.

And don't just assume they know you love them.

Tell them.

Hug them.

Listen to them.

Know their friends.

Know what they're watching.

Know what they're posting.

Know what they're carrying in their backpack.

Know when their personality suddenly changes.

And teach them that being angry doesn't give them permission to hurt another human being.

Teach your children what love feels like at home so they understand how to give love, receive love and respect somebody else's life outside that home.

That doesn't guarantee a child will never make a terrible decision. Parenting doesn't come with that kind of magic button.

But our babies need adults who are present.

🛑 AND PLEASE TAKE SCHOOL THREATS SERIOUSLY

Parents, if you see something disturbing on your child's phone, don't brush it off because “they're just kids.”

If your child tells you another student threatened somebody, listen.

Students, if somebody sends you a message talking about shooting up a school, don't repost it for likes.

Screenshot it.

Show an adult.

Tell the school.

Tell police.

You would rather everybody find out it was a stupid joke than stay quiet and find out it wasn't.

Because once a bullet leaves a gun, there is no undo button.

No apology brings somebody's child back.

No “I didn't mean it” reverses it.

No deleting the post makes the consequences disappear.

Baby, childhood is already short enough.

I want our little girls laughing too loud, doing their hair, dancing, playing sports, making TikToks, arguing over nonsense and calling their best friend 19 times because somebody didn't text them back.

I don't want to keep reading stories about children and gun threats.

And I definitely don't want our babies believing being feared makes them powerful.

THAT AIN'T POWER.

Real strength is knowing you're angry enough to do something stupid...

AND CHOOSING NOT TO DO IT.

Parents, LOVE YOUR CHILDREN.

Talk to them.

Listen to them.

Correct them.

Protect them.

And teach them to value other people's children the same way you expect the world to value yours.

Because these babies need more than phones, clothes and food.
