⏰ 32-HOUR WORKWEEK WITH NO LOSS IN PAY? LADY RED BEEN TRYING TO TELL Y’ALL WE AIN’T WORKING ALL 40 HOURS ANYWAY! 😂
A proposal in Congress is pushing something I have been saying for YEARS:
CUT THIS WORKWEEK DOWN.
The Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act would move the federal standard workweek for covered workers toward 32 hours, with supporters saying workers should make that transition without losing pay or benefits.
And everybody is about to start debating productivity, technology, artificial intelligence and the future of labor.
That's cute.
Lady Red has a completely different theory.
WE AIN’T REALLY WORKING ALL 40 OF THEM HOURS NOW. 😂
Let's stop playing.
🎙️ LADY RED HAS BEEN SAYING THIS!
Monday morning?
Please.
Half the office is recovering from the weekend.
You walk in, turn on the computer, open Outlook and immediately start investigating:
“Girl, did you see what happened Saturday?”
“No, but send it to me.”
“Wait... WHO posted that?”
“Hold on, let me go to her page.”
Now it's 10:42.
You haven't opened the spreadsheet, but you have reconstructed somebody's entire weekend using Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and three coworkers who weren't even there. 😂
MONDAY IS NOT A WORKDAY.
Monday is basically Weekend Investigations & Recovery Services.
We are trying to figure out what happened while everybody was out kickin' it.
😂 THEN HERE COMES TUESDAY
Tuesday is when we slightly start doing some work.
Not too much.
Don't hurt yourself.
You answer the emails you ignored Monday.
Move a couple numbers around.
Open Excel.
Close Excel.
Open Excel again because somebody walked past your desk.
😂😂😂
Now you look BUSY.
By Tuesday afternoon, productivity has finally entered the building.
🐪 AND THIS IS WHY WEDNESDAY IS REALLY HUMP DAY
They've been calling Wednesday Hump Day forever.
NOW I KNOW WHY.
Because Wednesday is when everybody suddenly realizes:
“DAMN... I ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO SOME WORK THIS WEEK.”
😂😂😂
So now we HUMPIN'.
Emails flying.
Reports getting finished.
Meetings happening.
People walking fast through the office carrying folders for absolutely no reason.
Wednesday is when America tries to squeeze five days of productivity into approximately six hours.
THAT'S THE HUMP!
We are climbing over all the work we didn't do Monday and barely touched Tuesday. 😂
👀 THURSDAY? WE CAN SEE THE WEEKEND
Thursday morning everybody gets a second wind because now Friday is close enough to smell.
We're working, but we're also making plans.
“What you doing this weekend?”
“Where we going Friday?”
“What time is happy hour?”
“Who driving?”
Now there's a group chat running simultaneously with the company email.
You are technically working two jobs.
One for your employer.
One for THE WEEKEND PLANNING COMMITTEE.
😂
🏃🏾♀️ AND FRIDAY?!
BABY.
Friday barely had a chance.
Everybody came in already planning to leave early.
You wore the comfortable shoes.
You didn't bring lunch because you aren't planning on being there that damn long.
By noon, you're looking at the clock.
By 1:30, your purse has mysteriously moved from underneath the desk to ON TOP OF THE DESK.
That's the universal corporate signal for:
I'M ABOUT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE. 😂
By 2:47, somebody is walking around saying:
“Well... I guess I'm gonna go ahead and get outta here.”
GO AHEAD?!
You've mentally been home since Thursday night!
💥 SO LADY RED'S QUESTION IS: WHY ARE WE PRETENDING?
That's why I've been saying a shorter workweek makes sense.
If we're going to spend Monday investigating everybody's weekend, Tuesday easing ourselves into employment, Wednesday humping through the actual work, Thursday planning the NEXT weekend and Friday trying to escape the building...
BABY, JUST GIVE US THE 32 HOURS.
😂😂😂
Now, my theory is Lady Red economics, not a congressional productivity study. The actual debate over shorter workweeks involves serious questions about productivity, wages, staffing, overtime costs and how different industries would handle fewer standard hours.
But I KNOW I'm not the only one who's watched an office operate.
Somebody somewhere is reading this article AT WORK RIGHT NOW.
👀
SEE?!
YOU ARE PROVING MY POINT.
💰 NOW HERE'S THE PART EVERYBODY CARES ABOUT
The proposal isn't simply saying everybody gets Friday off.
The legislation would gradually lower the federal overtime threshold for covered workers from 40 hours toward 32 hours, meaning eligible employees working beyond the new threshold would generally become entitled to overtime pay.
Supporters are pushing the idea that workers should not have their weekly pay or benefits reduced simply because the standard workweek gets shorter.
And THAT'S the sentence America heard:
32 HOURS. SAME PAY.
👀
Now you have our attention.
But don't call your supervisor talking about:
“Lady Red said I don't work Fridays anymore.”
I DID NOT SAY THAT. 😂
This is still a proposal in Congress, not the current nationwide workweek.
So until something actually becomes law, take your ass to work.
Even if you're just sitting there reading 730 BOOM trying to find out what happened over the weekend.
Matter of fact...
GET OFF MY WEBSITE AND FINISH THAT SPREADSHEET.
😂😂😂
📻 QUESTION OF THE DAY
If your employer could get the same amount of productivity from you in 32 hours, should you still have to sit there for 40?
Because Lady Red has been saying it:
WE DON'T NEED A 40-HOUR WORKWEEK.
We need 32 hours, the same check, and Friday to mind its damn business. 😂
730 BOOM RADIO
IT HITS DIFFERENT. EVERY TIME. BOOM! 💥
