President Donald Trump closed out the Republican midterm convention in Dallas on September 10, 2026, with a voting pledge that immediately lit up social media.

And yes, he really said it.

Trump asked the crowd at American Airlines Center to raise their right hands and repeat a pledge promising to vote in the November 3 midterm elections.

During the pledge, Trump told supporters to repeat that they would vote with their family and friends, adding that they would do it whether they were registered or not and would “cheat like hell like they do.”

The crowd could be heard laughing during the remarks.

Now before everybody starts yelling “HE JUST TOLD PEOPLE TO COMMIT ELECTION FRAUD!”, context matters.

Trump delivered the line jokingly while continuing his long-running accusations that Democrats cheat in elections. He did not provide evidence at the convention establishing widespread Democratic election cheating, and election officials and courts have repeatedly rejected or failed to substantiate broad claims that fraud changed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

🗳️ TRUMP REALLY WANTS REPUBLICANS TO SHOW UP

The bigger message behind Trump's appearance was turnout.

He repeatedly urged Republicans to treat the November midterms almost as though he personally were on the ballot, telling supporters to bring their friends and families to vote.

Republicans are fighting to maintain control of Congress, and Trump is making himself a centerpiece of that effort.

He even joked that supporters who don't vote are going to hell.

Now we're taking voting pledges and discussing the afterlife?!

THIS MIDTERM CAMPAIGN HAS EVERYTHING BUT A TWO-DRINK MINIMUM. 😭😂

But beneath the jokes is something serious.

Election fraud is a crime. People must be properly eligible and follow their state's voting requirements, and nobody should interpret political rally humor as permission to cast an illegal ballot.

Trump wants his supporters at the polls.

That message was VERY clear.

But whether saying “cheat like hell” while talking about American elections was a smart way to deliver it?
