1963📚A bomb exploded at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, killing 4 Black girls. A white man placed a box under the back steps of the church in resistance to desegregation. The bomb explodes at Sunday morning services Denise McNair (11), Addie Mae Collins (14), Carole Robertson (14), and Cynthia Wesley (14) were killed. More than 20 people were injured. The church was the largest Black church in Birmingham and a meeting place for civil rights leaders
