• 1968📚The 1st Miss Black America Pageant was held at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlantic City, NJ. The pageant was created by J. Morris Anderson & Brenda Cozart. Only intended for young women from the area of Philly, but word got out & it then extended nationwide even bringing out the big named celebs. It was put together to protest the lack of Black women in the Miss America pageant & celebrate Black beauty, challenging the standards of white beauty & providing a voice for us on issues. Saundra Williams of Pennsylvania was crowned the 1st Miss Black America. 1977 the contest was broadcast on NBC. Pageant is still active

• 1993🎶Scarface released his 2nd solo album The World Is Yours

• 1999📚🎶Mobb Deep released their 4th album Murda Muzik.

• 2002🎶"Dilemma,"by Nelly & Kelly Rowland hits #1 in America, where it stays for 10 weeks. It's the first hit for a Destiny's Child member outside the group.
