  • 1791📚Benjamin Banneker made history when he sent a letter to then Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson with a copy of his 1st almanac. Banneker was a free Black American mathematician, astronomer, farmer, & surveyor. By doing this he challenged Jefferson's racism & support to ending slavery. The Almanac proves Black Americans are capable of scientific & educated thought. He protested that Jefferson owned slaves while writing the Declaration of Independence, which states that all men are created equal 

  • 1977🎶A year after her group Labelle called it quits, Patti LaBelle releases her self-titled debut album, introducing one of her signature songs, You Are My Friend

  • 1980🎶"The Breaks" by Kurtis Blow becomes the 1st certified Gold rap single

  • 2003🎶T.I. released his 2nd album Trap Muzik

  • 2006☆Drake makes his professional debut with a 30-minute set at the Kool Haus in Toronto opening for Ice Cube. It earns him $100
