Baby, when I first saw $600,000 and presidential pardon in the same sentence, I had questions.

Because Boosie Badazz says he paid $600,000 to a Washington lobbying firm that was supposed to help push his case for a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

Now before somebody kicks in the 730 BOOM studio door, let me make something VERY clear:

Boosie did not pay Donald Trump $600,000 for a pardon.

He paid lobbyists to advocate for him and navigate the clemency process. Paying attorneys, lobbyists or advocates to work on a pardon request can be legal.

But paying the PRESIDENT in exchange for a pardon?

BABY, THAT WOULD BE A WHOLE DIFFERENT NEWS STORY.

And here's where this thing gets dirtier than the bottom of a Chicago snow boot.

Boosie says the people he hired were talking like they had connections all the way to Trump. According to reporting on the dispute, Boosie says he was eventually told that his pardon had been signed and was basically waiting to be announced.

Except...

No pardon showed up.

No announcement.

No presidential fairy dust.

NOTHING.

Boosie had paid $600,000, and now he's fighting to get $300,000 back under what he says were the terms of his agreement.

SIX. HUNDRED. THOUSAND. DOLLARS.

Boosie, for $600,000, somebody better personally walk that pardon from the Oval Office, put it in a gold frame, FedEx it overnight, AND CALL ME TO MAKE SURE I GOT IT.

But this story raises a bigger question.

💰 CAN YOU ACTUALLY BUY A PRESIDENTIAL PARDON?

Legally? No.

The Constitution gives the president extraordinarily broad authority to pardon federal offenses, but there is no official PardonMart where you slide your debit card through the machine and choose:

What DOES exist is a world of lawyers, lobbyists and clemency advocates who can charge people money to prepare applications, make their case and try to get the attention of people inside an administration.

And that's the distinction that matters here.

You can pay somebody to advocate for your pardon.

You cannot legally pay for the pardon itself.

And apparently Boosie learned that distinction for approximately the price of a very nice house.

Next time somebody tells you they practically have the president “on speed dial,” tell them to CALL HIM while you're sitting there before that wire transfer clears. 😂

Because $600,000 later, Boosie still didn't have the pardon he was seeking.
