⚖️ CELESTE RIVAS’ FAMILY SUPPORTS DEATH PENALTY FOR D4VD IF HE’S CONVICTED

The case surrounding singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has taken another emotional turn.

The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez says it supports prosecutors seeking the death penalty if D4vd is ultimately convicted of murdering the teenager.

Their statement came September 6, one day before what would have been Celeste's 16th birthday. Prosecutors have not yet decided whether they will actually pursue capital punishment. Because D4vd is charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, however, the death penalty remains a potential sentencing option.

🚨 SEPTEMBER 2025: A HORRIFYING DISCOVERY

On September 8, 2025, workers at a Hollywood impound lot noticed a foul odor coming from a Tesla.

Police were called.

Inside the trunk, authorities discovered badly decomposed and dismembered human remains.

The Tesla was registered to D4vd.

Investigators later identified the victim as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenager from Lake Elsinore, California, who had previously been reported missing.

At that point, the story went from “body discovered in celebrity's vehicle” to:

💔 INVESTIGATORS BEGIN CONNECTING CELESTE AND D4VD

As investigators dug deeper, authorities began examining an alleged relationship between Celeste and D4vd.

Prosecutors now allege the relationship began when Celeste was 13 and D4vd was 18. They have accused him of sexually abusing her while she was under 14.

That's an important distinction in this case.

We're not talking about two adults whose relationship later went bad.

Celeste was a child.

🔎 POLICE SEARCH HIS HOLLYWOOD HILLS HOME

Nine days after Celeste's body was discovered, investigators searched a Hollywood Hills home connected to D4vd.

Prosecutors later alleged investigators found evidence in the garage that was consistent with the dismemberment of Celeste's body.

By November 2025, D4vd was publicly identified as a suspect.

Investigators also used multiple investigative grand juries to gather testimony and evidence as they built their case.

And this investigation wasn't moving like somebody trying to finish before lunch.

They were building it brick by brick.

🚔 APRIL 2026: D4VD IS ARRESTED

Months later, on April 16, 2026, D4vd was arrested on suspicion of Celeste's murder.

Four days later, prosecutors formally charged him.

The allegations included first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors also alleged special circumstances, including that Celeste was killed for financial gain and because she could expose criminal conduct that threatened D4vd's increasingly lucrative music career.

D4vd pleaded not guilty.

His defense has maintained that he did not murder Celeste and was not responsible for her death.

That's important because regardless of how disturbing the allegations are, he has not been convicted.

⚖️ THEN THE MEDICAL EXAMINER'S FINDINGS CAME OUT

In April, the Los Angeles County medical examiner's report was released.

Celeste's death was classified as a homicide, with the cause listed as multiple penetrating injuries.

Prosecutors have since presented their theory of what happened.

They allege D4vd killed Celeste in April 2025 after she threatened to expose their relationship and the alleged sexual abuse, potentially jeopardizing his career.

Those remain prosecution allegations that must be proven in court.

⚖️ JULY: A JUDGE SAYS THERE'S ENOUGH EVIDENCE FOR A TRIAL

After a five-day preliminary hearing in July, a judge ruled there was sufficient evidence for D4vd to stand trial on all three charges.

That wasn't a guilty verdict.

It meant prosecutors cleared the legal hurdle necessary for the case to proceed toward trial.

Then another twist came last week.

D4vd's private attorneys withdrew, and the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office took over his defense. He again entered a not-guilty plea. His next court proceeding is expected in October.

🔴 NOW CELESTE'S FAMILY IS TALKING ABOUT THE DEATH PENALTY

And that's how we arrived here.

Celeste's family has now publicly said that if D4vd is convicted, they support the death penalty.

But they don't get to make that decision.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman's office must decide whether prosecutors will seek capital punishment, and as of September 7, that decision has not been made.

So there are three very different things happening here:

The family wants it.

The charges potentially allow it.

Prosecutors haven't decided whether to seek it.

This story started with something almost impossible to comprehend:

A child's body found in the trunk of a famous singer's car.

Then came the identification.

The search warrants.

The allegations about their relationship.

The arrest.

The murder charge.

The sexual-abuse charge.

The allegation that her body was mutilated.

And now her family is asking for the most severe punishment the American justice system can impose.

I understand why a grieving family could reach that point.

But D4vd still has a constitutional right to a trial, and a courtroom has to determine guilt based on evidence, not social media, headlines or how horrifying an allegation sounds.

Because justice for Celeste doesn't mean skipping the justice system.

It means making damn sure the truth survives it.

And somewhere underneath the celebrity name, viral headlines and courtroom spectacle is the part that should never get buried:

She should be approaching her 16th birthday.

Instead, her family is discussing what punishment they believe the person responsible for her death should receive.
