🏨 CHICAGO MEASLES ALERT: NOW THE HOTELS ARE ON THE LIST TOO?! 🤦🏾♀️

730 BOOM RADIO | CHICAGO NEWS
Chicago, we need to have another conversation about measles because apparently this virus has been sightseeing around the city.
And Lady Red has one simple announcement:
IF YO ASS IS SICK... STAY HOME!
That's it. That's the public service announcement.
Illinois health officials have identified two Chicago hotels as potential measles exposure locations, adding another chapter to the city's recent measles concerns.
The locations are the Swissotel Chicago at 323 E. Wacker Drive and the SpringHill Suites at 2357 S. Wentworth Avenue in Chinatown.
The Swissotel potential exposure occurred from 11 p.m. August 27 through 2:30 p.m. August 28. The monitoring period connected with that exposure has already ended.
The SpringHill Suites exposure window is more recent. Officials identified a potential exposure from 10:45 p.m. September 12 through 3:40 p.m. September 13. People who may have been exposed during that period are being advised to monitor themselves for symptoms through October 4.
And before somebody starts packing a suitcase and running down Michigan Avenue screaming, health officials have said the overall risk to Illinois residents remains very low.
But low risk does not mean ignore it.
😷 MEASLES HAS BEEN MAKING ROUNDS
Chicago has already dealt with recent potential measles exposures at Union Station, and now hotels have appeared on the exposure list.
Baby, measles is getting entirely too comfortable.
Union Station?
Hotels?
What's next, brunch reservations?
Measles is highly contagious, which is why public health officials take possible exposure locations seriously. Symptoms can include high fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes and a rash.
Symptoms may not appear immediately. They can develop 7 to 21 days after exposure.
And this next part is important.
If you believe you've been exposed and start developing symptoms, call your healthcare provider before walking into a doctor's office, clinic or emergency room. Calling ahead allows medical staff to take precautions so other patients aren't unnecessarily exposed.
Because we cannot have somebody walking into the waiting room coughing like:
"I don't know WHAT this is."
MA'AM.
BACK UP. 😭
📢 LADY RED HAS A MESSAGE FOR CHICAGO
Listen.
We love you.
We care about you.
We want you healthy.
But if you're running a fever, coughing, covered in a mysterious rash and your eyeballs look like they've been arguing with you all morning...
YO ASS DOES NOT NEED TO BE AT THE HOTEL.
You don't need to be shopping.
You don't need to be at the function.
You don't need to be sitting at somebody's bar ordering lemon-pepper wings.
And you DEFINITELY don't need to come into work talking about:
"I didn't want to use my sick day."
USE IT.
Your coworkers don't want the souvenir you're bringing.
If you're experiencing symptoms consistent with measles, contact a healthcare professional and follow public-health guidance.
Everybody else?
Wash your hands, know your vaccination status, pay attention to official exposure notices and stop treating staying home when you're sick like it's a personal failure.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for Chicago is sit yo ass on the couch.
