CHICAGO: Finally, some Chicago news that doesn't require crime-scene tape, a SWAT truck or somebody explaining why they were doing donuts in the middle of an intersection. 😂

COMMON IS COMING HOME.

Chicago's own Common is set to headline the 2026 Chicago Live! Festival at Navy Pier on Saturday, September 19, bringing hip-hop, Chicago pride and one hell of a lakefront backdrop together for the night.

And before y'all start asking how much the tickets cost...

🎶 COMMON TAKES THE LAKE STAGE

Common is scheduled to hit the Lake Stage at 9 p.m., overlooking Lake Michigan.

And this isn't just somebody they flew into Chicago because he had an open Saturday.

This is our dude.

Born and raised in Chicago. Grammy winner. Emmy winner. Academy Award winner. Rapper. Actor. Author. Activist.

Basically Common's trophy shelf needs its own property tax bill.

And after his performance?

🎆 FIREWORKS.

Because apparently Navy Pier said, “Common ain't enough? Fine. Blow up the sky too.” 😂

🎭 THIS IS BIGGER THAN ONE CONCERT

Chicago Live! runs September 19 and 20 and is billed as the Midwest's largest free performing arts festival.

More than 100 artists and performing arts organizations are expected across five stages, with music, dance, theater, comedy, spoken word and other performances representing Chicago's enormous arts community.

So you could theoretically walk into Navy Pier for free, hear some music, catch some theater, watch dancers, see Common perform and finish the night underneath fireworks.

Chicago said:

“We know parking might hurt your feelings, so we're gonna make the entertainment FREE.” 😭😂
