🚔 $3.8 MILLION IN COCAINE FOUND DURING INDIANA TRAFFIC STOP: THAT “EMPTY” TRAILER WASN’T EMPTY-EMPTY

INDIANA: Baby, somebody apparently had a VERY different definition of the word “empty.”

Indiana State Police say a routine commercial vehicle inspection on I-70 in Putnam County Sunday turned into a massive drug bust after troopers discovered approximately 277 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $3.8 MILLION.

Now before we go any further, one correction from our earlier rundown: this did not happen in Northwest Indiana. Putnam County is west of Indianapolis. CBS Chicago picked up the story, but geographically, this is a statewide Indiana story rather than an NWI bust.

🚛 “I'M PULLING AN EMPTY TRAILER”

Police say the driver, identified as Harpreet Singh of Greenwood, Indiana, was traveling eastbound on I-70 when Indiana State Police stopped the commercial truck for an inspection.

According to police, Singh told the trooper he was hauling an empty trailer from Memphis to Indianapolis.

EMPTY?!

Sir.

Apparently that trailer was empty in the same way my refrigerator is empty when there's food in there but nothing I feel like eating. 😂

Because after the vehicle was impounded, investigators say they discovered five duffel bags containing approximately 277 pounds of cocaine.

Estimated value: $3.8 MILLION.

That's not a little baggie somebody forgot under the seat.

That's not “these aren't my pants.”

That's 277 POUNDS.

At that point, you don't need a lawyer.

You need a lawyer, his lawyer, his lawyer's pastor and Olivia Pope. 😂

🚔 DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Singh was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail.

Early reports differed on whether charges had been formally specified. A later Indiana report said he faced preliminary allegations of dealing and possession of a narcotic drug, so we'll let the court paperwork do the talking as the case moves forward.

Police say you told them that trailer was EMPTY.

Then they opened it and allegedly found enough cocaine to have a street value approaching FOUR MILLION DAMN DOLLARS.

That's not empty.

That's a whole business plan with wheels.

And somewhere in America, somebody was expecting five duffel bags to arrive and is currently staring at their phone like:

“Why the little delivery dot ain't moving?” 😭😂

Indiana State Police said the investigation stemmed from a commercial vehicle inspection, which means this enormous seizure apparently began with something considerably less dramatic than a Hollywood drug raid.

One traffic stop.

One inspection.

Five duffel bags.

277 pounds of cocaine.

$3.8 million.

And one allegedly “empty” trailer that turned out to be the most employed empty trailer in Indiana.
