Now wait just one crispy wing...
For decades, folks have argued about who got the best Harold's.
South Side.
West Side.
Mild sauce.
Extra mild.
Fried hard.
No slaw.
Now...
People are asking...
"Which Harold's is the REAL Harold's?"
Baby...
This story got more twists than a box of curly fries.
It all started after the passing of Kristen Pierce-Sherrod, the longtime CEO of Harold's Chicken and daughter of founder Harold Pierce. Since her death earlier this year, a legal battle has been brewing over who controls the legendary Chicago brand.
And just like that...
The family recipe became court documents.
Now here's where it gets messy...
Kristen's husband and her children are reportedly on opposite sides of a legal fight involving ownership, trademarks, and who has the authority to operate and expand Harold's Chicken.
Translation?
Somebody said...
"Pass the biscuits."
Somebody else said...
"Pass the lawyer."
Then things really got spicy.
You've probably seen social media posts claiming certain Harold's Chicken locations aren't "official" or "authorized."
Then the company responded.
Then more posts came.
Then more people got confused.
Now folks pulling into the parking lot wondering...
"Am I about to eat authentic Harold's... or Harold's cousin?"
Meanwhile...
Grandma just wants her six wings fried hard with extra mild sauce.
Can we please not traumatize Grandma?
Now let's pump the brakes for a second.
Social media has been buzzing with all kinds of claims about what allegedly happened inside the family.
Some posts have made very serious accusations.
As of now, those allegations have not been verified by credible news reports or publicly confirmed court findings.
And around here...
We like our chicken seasoned...
Not our facts.
So until somebody walks into court with receipts instead of reposts...
We're leaving rumors in the group chat where they belong.
Here's what we do know...
The courts will eventually sort out who owns what.
Until then...
Chicago is doing what Chicago does best.
Standing in line...
Waiting on their number...
And hoping the mild sauce still tastes like childhood.
đź’¬ TODAY'S BOOM QUESTION
Does it matter whether a Harold's Chicken is "official," or if the food is good, are you still pulling up?
Be honest...
If the wings hot...
The fries fresh...
And they remembered the bread...
Are you asking to see the franchise paperwork?🍗
So what do we do?
We should support the side of right whatever that may be! Praying everything works out because we love Harolds it is a Chicago staple and hopefully it stays that way and this doesnt comprompise the quality of the brand.
