OFF-DUTY CHICAGO COPS INJURED AFTER 31ST STREET BEACH FIGHT GETS OUT OF HAND

CHICAGO... apparently somebody forgot the beach is supposed to be for WATER, SAND AND MINDING YOUR BUSINESS. 😩

Because Friday night at 31st Street Beach reportedly turned into something nobody ordered with their lakefront experience.

According to Chicago police and local reports, a large fight broke out near 31st Street Beach, leaving four people injured, including two off-duty Chicago police officers.

So you clock out from dealing with Chicago foolishness...

just to run into some OVERTIME FOOLISHNESS FOR FREE?!

According to ABC7 Chicago, a heavy police response could be seen near the beach as authorities worked to get the situation under control.

And this wasn't just two people arguing over who took somebody's parking spot.

Authorities described it as a large fight, and four people ultimately suffered injuries.

Two of those injured were reportedly Chicago police officers who weren't even on duty at the time.

You can't even take the badge off and enjoy the lakefront without somebody apparently scheduling WWE: LAKE MICHIGAN EDITION.

🏖️ Beach towel? Check.

🩴 Flip-flops? Check.

🥤 Something cold to drink? Check.

🥊 RANDOM BEACH BRAWL?!

WHO PUT THAT ON THE ITINERARY?!

Now, jokes aside, anytime a large crowd situation turns violent enough that people are getting hurt, that's serious business. Police responded to the scene, and authorities are investigating exactly what led to the confrontation.

But Chicago...

Can we PLEASE stop turning perfectly good public spaces into fight clubs?

Because 31st Street Beach has a whole skyline view, beautiful water, boats, music and sunshine.

YOU PAID ZERO DOLLARS FOR ADMISSION AND STILL FOUND A WAY TO ADD A PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT.

At some point we've got to learn how to disagree, walk away and go get ourselves a Polish or something.

Because nobody should leave the beach needing an ice pack for something other than sunburn.
