Some wins hit differently when you've been building toward them for more than a decade.

Jhené Aiko has officially earned the first No. 1 album of her career. Her new project, Westside Whimsy, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, giving the R&B singer a milestone she's never reached before.

And 730 BOOM has one thing to say:

CONGRATULATIONS, JHENÉ! 🥂🏆

🌊 WESTSIDE WHIMSY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE TOP

Released September 11, Westside Whimsy earned 74,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the tracking week ending September 17.

And baby, STREAMING did the heavy lifting.

About 70,000 units came from streaming, representing a whopping 71.33 million official on-demand streams of the album's songs. Another 3,500 units came from album sales, with 500 coming from track-equivalent album units. The project also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Streaming Albums chart.

That's not people casually checking out an album.

Y'all had that thing on REPEAT. 😂🎧

🔥 AND SHE DID IT WITH VERY LITTLE WARNING

Here's another wild part.

Jhené announced the album on September 8.

Then dropped it September 11.

Three days.

No six-month rollout. No dragging us through 47 teasers, a mysterious countdown and twelve blurry Instagram pictures trying to figure out what they mean. 😂

She said, basically:

Here's the album. Enjoy.

And the people did exactly that.

The 20-track project includes collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Tyga, Larry June and OHMA.

👑 FIRST NO. 1 AFTER YEARS OF HITS

This one feels especially good because Jhené has been putting in WORK.

Her first Billboard 200 appearance came with Sail Out back in 2013, when it reached No. 8.

Then came Souled Out.

Then Trip.

And in 2020, Chilombo came extremely close, reaching No. 2 and later earning a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Now, nearly 13 years after her first Billboard 200 appearance, she finally has that No. 1.

And Westside Whimsy becomes her sixth top-10 project on the chart.

👏🏾 AND THERE'S ANOTHER R&B MILESTONE

Jhené isn't just celebrating a personal first.

Westside Whimsy is the first R&B album by a woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2026.

The last female R&B artist to lead the chart was SZA, whose SOS spent its 13th and final week at No. 1 in May 2025.

Now THAT'S a beautiful moment for R&B.

🎙️ LADY RED SAYS...

This is exactly why I don't like when people start acting like an artist is finished just because they aren't chasing whatever sound is trending this Tuesday.

Jhené stayed JHENÉ.

That dreamy, mellow, incense-burning, light-a-candle-and-block-his-number R&B has had its own lane for YEARS. 😂🌿🎶

And now, after more than a decade on the Billboard 200...

SHE FINALLY HAS HER NO. 1.

Not everybody's biggest moment happens at the beginning.

Sometimes the catalog grows.

The audience grows.

The artist grows.

And then one day, everybody meets at the top of the chart.

Congratulations to Jhené Aiko on her first-ever Billboard 200 No. 1! 🏆🔥

And from 730 BOOM Radio...

KEEP R&B ALIVE, BABY. WE'RE STILL LISTENING. 🎶❤️

730 BOOM RADIOIT HITS DIFFERENT. EVERY TIME. BOOM! 💥
