PRITZKER DECLARES DISASTER IN 15 ILLINOIS COUNTIES AFTER SEVERE STORMS

Baby, at this point I have ONE question:

WHAT DID ILLINOIS DO TO MOTHER NATURE?! 😩🌪️🌧️

Because between the tornadoes, flash flooding, damaging winds, downed trees and power outages, Illinois weather has been acting like it has a PERSONAL problem with us.

Now Gov. JB Pritzker has issued a disaster proclamation for 15 Illinois counties following recent severe storms and record-breaking weather.

The proclamation allows the state to provide additional resources to affected communities and opens access to certain disaster-response funding.

📍 IS YOUR COUNTY INCLUDED?

The proclamation covers:

Alexander, Champaign, Cook, DuPage, Ford, Fulton, Kane, Lake, LaSalle, Marshall, McLean, Pulaski, Tazewell, Vermilion and Will counties.

So YES...

Cook County is included.

Will County? ✔️DuPage? ✔️Kane? ✔️Lake? ✔️

Mother Nature apparently bought the Chicagoland Unlimited Package. 😭

💰 WHAT ABOUT THAT $250,000 IN DISASTER MONEY?

This is where we need to make sure nobody gets confused.

Eligible communities may apply for up to $250,000 through Illinois' Community Development Block Grant Disaster Response Program to help reimburse costs associated with things such as debris removal, storm cleanup and repairs to public infrastructure.

🚨 THAT IS NOT $250,000 FOR INDIVIDUAL RESIDENTS.

Baby, put Zillow DOWN. 😭😂

Your village may qualify for disaster-response money.

YOU are not getting a quarter-million-dollar check because the tree fell on your garage.

🏠 SO WHAT SHOULD RESIDENTS WITH DAMAGE DO?

If the storms damaged your home, car or property, document the damage with photos and video, save disaster-related receipts, contact your insurance company if applicable and report the damage to your municipality or county emergency-management agency.

Those local damage reports are important because officials use them to assess how badly an area was affected and determine whether additional assistance may be needed.

And here's another important distinction:

⚠️ A state disaster proclamation does NOT automatically mean FEMA Individual Assistance has been approved for residents.

Watch official state and federal announcements for additional assistance programs that may become available.

🌪️ AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THESE TORNADOES?!

Illinois has reportedly recorded more than 200 tornadoes so far in 2026 as of mid-August.

TWO HUNDRED?!

Illinois looked over at Tornado Alley and said:

“Scoot over. I got this.” 😭🌪️

We used to worry about snow.

Then it was polar vortexes.

Then flooding.

Now everybody in Illinois got a radar app open looking at little red blobs talking about:

“Is that headed toward us?!” 😭

I DID NOT GO TO METEOROLOGY SCHOOL.

⚠️ WATCH OUT FOR DISASTER SCAMS TOO

Any time disaster money starts making headlines, scammers aren't far behind.

Don't give banking information, Social Security numbers or money to someone who contacts you claiming they can guarantee disaster assistance.

Verify programs through official Illinois or federal government sources before providing personal information.

🔴 LADY RED SAYS...

The important part isn't just that Illinois declared a disaster.

It's knowing what that actually means for YOU.

The $250,000 is community funding, not a personal payout.

But if you suffered storm damage, report it and document it now so there's a record if additional assistance becomes available.

And Mother Nature...

Illinois already has property taxes, potholes, winter and construction season.

WE HAVE ENOUGH GOING ON. 😭😂
