đ°TARGET GOT NEARLY $1 BILLION IN TARIFF MONEY BACK... NOW A CUSTOMER SAYS WHERE'S OUR REFUND?! đ

Now WAIT A MINUTE.
You mean to tell me Target got nearly a BILLION dollars back from the government for tariffs, after consumers spent months paying higher prices...
and now somebody has gone to federal court basically asking:
âOkay... so what about OUR money?â đ
Yep. That's where we are.
A Target customer has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Target Corp., arguing that consumers are entitled to money back for allegedly inflated prices connected to tariffs that were later ruled unlawful. The lawsuit was filed in federal court in New York.
đŻ HOW DID WE GET HERE?
In February 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that certain tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, exceeded presidential authority and were unlawful.
That opened the door for companies that had paid those tariffs to seek refunds from the federal government.
And Target?
According to Target's latest financial results, the retailer received approximately $994 MILLION in tariff refunds. That refund helped boost Target's quarterly profits, with the company's net income reaching about $1.87 billion.
đ° AND THAT'S WHERE CUSTOMERS COME IN...
The lawsuit alleges that Target passed tariff-related costs along to customers through higher retail prices.
The plaintiff's argument is essentially this:
If customers helped absorb those tariff costs through higher prices, and Target later recovered the tariff money from the government...
WHY DOES TARGET GET TO KEEP BOTH?
The lawsuit accuses Target of being unjustly enriched and seeks relief for consumers who allegedly paid higher prices because of the tariffs.
And Target isn't alone. Similar consumer lawsuits have been popping up against other companies as businesses receive tariff refunds. Legal analysts have described this as an emerging wave of tariff-refund class actions.
đ¨ BUT BEFORE Y'ALL START LOOKING FOR A TARGET CLAIM FORM...
THERE ISN'T ONE.
This is important.
This is a new proposed class-action lawsuit, NOT an approved settlement.
There is currently no Target tariff settlement fund, no guaranteed customer payment and no official claim form associated with this lawsuit.
The allegations still have to make their way through court, and Target can challenge them.
There is also a major legal question these lawsuits will have to overcome: attorneys defending businesses argue that there isn't currently a law automatically requiring retailers to pass government tariff refunds directly to consumers simply because their costs went down.
So we're a LONG way from:
âTARGET OWES YOU A CHECK!â
We're at:
âSOMEBODY IS SUING TARGET TRYING TO GET CUSTOMERS A CHECK.â
Big difference. đ
đ AND HERE'S WHAT MAKES THIS REALLY INTERESTING...
This debate is getting much bigger than Target.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren has publicly pressed major corporations receiving tariff refunds to explain whether they're going to return some of that money to consumers who ultimately bore higher costs.
Meanwhile, Walmart announced today that it plans to use its roughly $2.9 billion tariff refund toward lower prices and improvements for customers.
So now the question becomes:
IF THE GOVERNMENT REFUNDS THE COMPANY FOR A COST THAT THE COMPANY PASSED ON TO YOU... WHO SHOULD GET THE MONEY?
The company?
The customer?
Both?
Because if I paid an extra $10 because you told me âtariffs made it cost more,â and Uncle Sam later hands you that tariff money back...
Baby...
I'M AT CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH MY RECEIPT. đđ
đ´ LADY RED SAYS...
Don't start posting âTARGET IS GIVING REFUNDS!â
They're not.
At least not right now.
What we have is a proposed class-action lawsuit seeking relief for consumers, and whether customers ultimately receive anything will depend on what happens in court.
But with Target receiving nearly $1 BILLIONÂ in tariff refunds, you KNOW this lawsuit is going to have people asking questions.
And I'm asking one too:
IF WE PAID THE HIGHER PRICE BECAUSE OF THE TARIFF... AND YOU GOT THE TARIFF MONEY BACK...
DO WE GET OUR LITTLE PIECE BACK TOO?! đđ°đŻ
Because don't make me walk into Target with a shopping bag full of receipts from 2025 talking about:
âExcuse me, Guest Services. Lady Red is here regarding my tariff reimbursement.â đđ
