✈️ WTF?! CO-PILOT ALLEGEDLY STABS CAPTAIN MID-FLIGHT AS PASSENGERS HELP SAVE THE PLANE

730 BOOM RADIO | WTF NEWS
Listen.
Some of y’all already don’t like flying.
You grip the armrest when the plane hits a little turbulence. You start negotiating with God when the seatbelt sign comes on. Somebody coughs too hard in Row 17 and you're already looking around.
So imagine you're cruising at 33,000 feet and suddenly the plane starts dropping.
Not turbulence.
Not a little bump.
DROPPING.
That nightmare became reality Wednesday aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with roughly 170 people aboard. According to Israeli officials, a violent confrontation erupted inside the cockpit when the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and then attempted to crash the aircraft. Reuters
BABY...
WHAT IN THE FRIENDLY SKIES IS GOING ON?!
THE PLANE LOST THOUSANDS OF FEET 😳
Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft plunging from roughly 33,000 feet to 17,000 feet in about a minute. Passengers initially thought they were experiencing severe turbulence before realizing something much more serious was happening near the cockpit. Reuters
One passenger described people holding hands with their families because they believed they might die.
That's the part where Lady Red doesn't have a joke.
Imagine sitting next to your child, spouse, mother or best friend and genuinely believing those could be your last seconds together.
Absolutely terrifying.
THEN THE CAPTAIN DID SOMETHING INCREDIBLE
According to a spokesperson for the Israeli prime minister's office, the wounded captain managed to release the cockpit door despite being seriously injured.
That gave passengers and crew an opportunity to get inside.
They rushed the cockpit and subdued the alleged attacker. A reserve flydubai crew that happened to be aboard then took control of the aircraft. Reuters
WAIT.
So you mean to tell me I bought a ticket, checked my bag, found my seat, asked for some pretzels...
AND NOW WE GOTTA HELP SAVE THE AIRPLANE?!
Sir, this was NOT included in the boarding group.
😭✈️
AND SOMEBODY ELSE HAD TO FLY THE PLANE
Thankfully, additional qualified flight crew members were aboard.
Flydubai said a reserve crew took control and safely landed the aircraft at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. Passengers received assistance after landing, and the travelers later continued toward Israel. Reuters
That reserve crew deserves the loudest:
“IS THERE A PILOT ON THE PLANE?”
“Actually, yes.”
😂
Because what are the chances?!
BUT HERE'S WHAT WE DON'T KNOW YET
The motive remains under investigation.
Israeli officials have described the incident as an attempt to deliberately crash the aircraft, but flydubai has cautioned against jumping to conclusions about the underlying reasons before the investigation is complete. Reuters
And that's important.
There are already going to be rumors flying faster than the airplane, but until investigators establish exactly what happened and why, we're sticking with what has actually been confirmed.
LADY RED'S QUESTION...
I'm glad everybody made it down safely.
I'm glad passengers stepped up.
I'm glad another flight crew was there.
I'm glad that injured captain reportedly found enough strength to open that cockpit door.
But when I get off that airplane?
I AM WALKING HOME.
I don't care if I'm in Saudi Arabia.
Google Maps better give me the pedestrian route back to Chicago.
Because after surviving a pilot allegedly trying to crash my flight, ain't nobody getting me on another plane talking about:
“We apologize for the inconvenience.”
INCONVENIENCE?!
I JUST HELPED SAVE FLIGHT 1073! WHERE ARE MY WINGS?!
😭😭😭
Seriously, though, what happened aboard that aircraft could have ended with the deaths of everyone aboard. Instead, passengers and crew members responded during an extraordinary emergency, and the plane made it safely to the ground.
That is the part worth celebrating.
Everybody got another day.
And sometimes that's the biggest headline of all. 🙏🏾
