🚨 BERWYN SCHOOL SHOOTING LEFT 3 DEAD IN DOMESTIC-RELATED MURDER-SUICIDE

A deadly shooting outside a Berwyn middle school that initially sent fear through the community was ultimately determined to be a domestic-related murder-suicide that left three adults dead.

The shooting happened on September 16, 2025, near Lincoln Middle School in Berwyn.

Police said officers heard gunfire shortly after 4 p.m. and rushed toward the area. When they arrived, they encountered a man firing a rifle into another vehicle.

The situation became even more dangerous when police said the gunman fired in the direction of responding officers. Officers took cover but did not return fire.

Inside Lincoln Middle School, students and staff were immediately placed under a hard lockdown as the violence unfolded just outside.

When additional officers were able to approach the scene, investigators found the gunman dead from what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Two other adults were found shot to death inside the vehicle he had been firing into.

No students or school staff members were physically injured during the shooting, and authorities said there was no continuing threat to the community.

The tragedy, however, hit the school much closer than initially known.

School officials later announced that Lincoln Middle School Assistant Principal Nerissa Lee was among those killed. Another victim was identified as 54-year-old Steven T. Lee, whom neighbors identified as her husband.

The shooting was investigated as an isolated, domestic-related incident.

For the students inside that building, though, "isolated" probably didn't make those moments feel any less terrifying. Children were locked inside their school while rifle fire erupted outside and police responded to an active shooter.

It's also another painful reminder that domestic violence doesn't always stay behind somebody's front door. Sometimes it follows people into workplaces, parking lots and public spaces, leaving entire communities dealing with the aftermath.
