October has several community events across Chicago and the south suburbs offering everything from employment opportunities and career training to free winter coats and food assistance.
So screenshot this. Send it to the family group chat. Send it to that cousin looking for work. And please send it to somebody who may need a little help but is too proud to ask.

🍎 NEED GROCERIES? SOUTH SUBURBAN FOOD HELP IS AVAILABLE WEEKLY
This isn't a one-day event.
Thornton Township Food And General Assistance Center at 15340 Page Avenue in Harvey provides food assistance to families in the south suburbs.
Current listed distribution hours are Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Because pantry schedules can change, it's smart to call before heading out.
For families farther south, Bloom Township Food Pantry in Chicago Heights is another food-assistance resource. Residency or service-area requirements may apply, so verify eligibility before making the trip.
💳 AND THERE'S MORE THAN GIVEAWAYS
The Chicago Urban League has a full October calendar of free community programs.
That includes a College Fair on October 10, a renters' rights and readiness workshop on October 14, homebuyer education on October 20 and 22, rental-search assistance on October 21 and an estate-planning workshop about Transfer on Death Instruments on October 26. Chicago Urban League
So whether you need a job, coat, groceries, career direction, housing information or help figuring out your next move, there are resources available.
And THAT'S why we're putting these stories on 730 BOOM.
Community news isn't only crime scenes and breaking alerts.
Sometimes the breaking news needs to be:
SOMEBODY IS HIRING.
SOMEBODY IS FEEDING FAMILIES.
SOMEBODY HAS COATS FOR THE KIDS.
SOMEBODY HAS A RESOURCE THAT COULD HELP YOU GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
Share the information.
Because the resource somebody desperately needs might be sitting right here on somebody else's timeline. 💙
