Boosie Badazz is back in the headlines, but THIS TIME it isn't because something he said had social media collectively reaching for his phone.

Because baby, just a couple weeks ago, Boosie had himself in some WNBA hot water after posting his opposition to transgender women competing in the league, including a Juwanna Mann reference that quickly drew backlash online.

And y'all know how Boosie gets.

Sometimes that man sees a controversial subject and apparently thinks:

Boosie recently opened his Palmetto, Georgia estate to teens and young men for a “Save Our Sons” back-to-school event, partnering with Next Level Boys Academy for a day centered around mentorship, encouragement and reaching young men.

The gathering brought young men together through Next Level Boys Academy, a mentoring organization that works with boys and young men and has taken its Save Our Sons outreach into communities beyond Georgia.

And regardless of whatever you think about Boosie's opinions, this is where his life experience can actually carry some weight.

Because Boosie isn't standing in front of these young men pretending his road has been perfect.

Baby, that GPS has RECALCULATED several times. 😭😂

He's experienced fame, money, incarceration, legal trouble, controversy and the consequences that can come with decisions made when you're young.

So when someone with THAT history tells a young man:

“You don't want to go down certain roads...”

He ain't reading it off a motivational poster.

💯 SOMETIMES THE MESSENGER MATTERS

We constantly hear people ask:

“Where are the men mentoring these boys?”

“Where are the rappers when these kids need somebody?”

“Why don't celebrities use their platforms for something positive?”

Well...

HERE YOU GO. 👏🏾

When somebody does something questionable, 730 BOOM can talk about it.

But when somebody turns around and does something positive?

WE CAN TALK ABOUT THAT TOO.

Because accountability shouldn't mean somebody can NEVER get credit for doing something right.

Here's the bigger point.

We report when young men get arrested.

We report when they're shot.

We report when they're sentenced.

We report when they're accused of doing something wrong.

So we should have enough room in the news cycle to report when somebody is trying to reach them BEFORE they become one of those stories.

Boosie's approach may not be everybody's cup of tea, and clearly his social-media commentary can have folks ready to throw the whole cup away. 😭

But using his home, celebrity and life experiences to spend time with young men?

👏🏾 THAT deserves recognition.

Because sometimes the person who can reach a young man isn't the person with the cleanest résumé.

Sometimes it's the person who can look him dead in the face and say:

“I've already been down that road. Let me tell you where it ends.”

And THAT conversation might be the one he remembers.
