Now THIS is some casting that makes you stop scrolling.

SwayvoTwain, the son of late music legends D’Angelo and Angie Stone, has officially been cast to portray The Notorious B.I.G. in Universal Pictures’ upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, Snoop. And this won’t just be another music appearance for him. It’s being described as his first major movie role.

Born Michael D’Angelo Archer II, SwayvoTwain is already a recording artist, songwriter and performer, carrying some SERIOUS musical DNA.

His mama gave us “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.”

His daddy gave us “Brown Sugar” and “Untitled.”

And now their son is about to put on the Coogi sweater and step into the world of Big Poppa?!

Okay, Hollywood. You officially have my attention. 👀

SwayvoTwain isn't the only major casting announcement.

Jonathan Daviss, known for Outer Banks, is playing Snoop Dogg himself.

👑 WHY IS BIGGIE IN A SNOOP DOGG MOVIE?

Now some of y'all younger folks might be asking:

“Wait. Why would Biggie be in Snoop's story?”

Because despite everything people remember about the infamous East Coast-West Coast feud, Snoop and Biggie's histories crossed.

The two rappers had mutual respect for one another, and Snoop has spoken over the years about interactions he had with Biggie during that turbulent period in hip-hop. Biggie even referenced Snoop on Life After Death.

That means this movie has an opportunity to show something that often gets lost when people retell '90s hip-hop history.

It wasn't always simply East Coast hates West Coast.

There were friendships, professional relationships, mutual admiration and plenty of complicated situations happening underneath all that public tension.

And if they're putting Biggie in this movie, I need them to tell THAT part of the story correctly.

Don't give me no two-minute Biggie cameo where somebody walks through the studio yelling:

“YO SNOOP!”

Then disappears. 😂

We need CONTEXT.

❤️ THIS CASTING ALSO HITS DIFFERENT

There's another layer to SwayvoTwain getting this opportunity.

He's stepping into his first major film role while carrying the legacy of two influential soul artists as his parents.

According to Variety, his recent music has also reflected the influence of his parents, including songs such as “DoveSoar” and “Ms. Angie’s Son.”

Now he's portraying one of the most recognizable rappers who ever touched a microphone.

That's a hell of an assignment.

Because playing Biggie isn't just putting on a Kangol and leaning sideways.

You have to capture the voice.

The mannerisms.

The humor.

The confidence.

The presence.

Biggie could stand completely still and somehow take up the entire room.

That's the part I'm curious to see SwayvoTwain pull off.

🎥 SNOOP IS PRODUCING HIS OWN STORY

Another reason I'm interested in this one is Snoop Dogg himself is producing the movie.

Craig Brewer, the filmmaker behind Hustle & Flow, is directing, working from his rewrite of an original screenplay by Joe Robert Cole, whose credits include Black Panther. Brian Grazer, Snoop and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker are among the producers.

Universal describes Snoop as the definitive biopic about the rapper, entertainer and mogul, and the movie will incorporate music from Snoop's catalog. It's also the first film project under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.

So Snoop isn't sitting somewhere waiting to find out what Hollywood decided happened in his life.

Uncle Snoop is in the kitchen.

And considering this man's life includes Dr. Dre, Death Row, Tupac, Suge Knight, Biggie, murder accusations, trials, No Limit, Martha Stewart, football leagues, commercials, the Olympics and approximately 738 other careers...

We might need an intermission and a lunch break.

🍿 WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?

Universal has officially scheduled Snoop for August 6, 2027, with a wide theatrical release planned.

And between Snoop, Dre, Pac, Suge, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Lady of Rage AND Biggie being represented...

They better get this right.

Because hip-hop fans don't play about their history.
