Technically, KG was born and raised in South Carolina. But before he became The Big Ticket, an NBA MVP, champion and Hall of Famer, Kevin Garnett spent his senior year right here in CHICAGO, playing at Farragut Career Academy on the West Side. He became a national high-school star at Farragut and went straight from Chicago high school basketball to the NBA when Minnesota selected him fifth overall in the 1995 draft.

SO YES... CHICAGO GETS SOME OF THIS DAMN CREDIT. 😂🏀

Because if you know Chicago basketball, you know playing here ain't exactly a recreational activity.

KG himself has talked about how Chicago sharpened him. He said the competition around the city gave him constant matchups, from West Side courts to playing against kids from Carver, Simeon and King, and even getting runs with DePaul players.

Baby, that's not basketball practice.

And apparently the training worked.

Because that skinny teenager who left Farragut for the NBA turned into one of the greatest power forwards basketball has ever seen.

🐺 NOW MINNESOTA IS FINALLY PUTTING 21 WHERE IT BELONGS

The Minnesota Timberwolves have scheduled the retirement of Garnett's legendary No. 21 for February 28, 2027, when the Timberwolves host the Boston Celtics.

And whoever scheduled Boston for THAT game?

PETTY WITH A PURPOSE. I LIKE IT. 😂

Because Minnesota is where KG became a superstar...

But Boston is where that man finally got his NBA CHAMPIONSHIP in 2008.

Boston already retired Garnett's No. 5 in 2022.

So now Minnesota is finally saying:

“Alright, alright... bring 21 up there too.”

Because let's look at this man's Minnesota résumé.

South Carolina can claim the place where KG's story began.

But Chicago?
