730 Boom Radio: Send your prayers to Perez Hilton

Now y'all...

Can we put the gossip to the side for just a minute?

Because this isn't about who said what...Who unfollowed who...Or who got caught cheating.

This is about a human being.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was hospitalized after a disturbing livestream led viewers to call 911 out of concern for his safety. Authorities responded, and Perez was taken to a hospital where he's now receiving treatment. His family has asked for privacy while he focuses on his recovery.

Now here's the part I want y'all to hear...

People love to say,

"Well, he's rich."

"He's famous."

"He's got millions of followers."

And?

None of that stops depression.

None of that stops anxiety.

None of that guarantees somebody isn't crying when the cameras are off.

We live in a world where everybody is posting vacation pictures...

...but nobody wants to post they're barely hanging on.

Everybody's smiling for Instagram...

...while quietly fighting battles they don't tell anybody about.

Now don't get me wrong...

Perez Hilton has made plenty of enemies over the years.

He's built an entire career talking about celebrities.

Some people loved it.

Some people couldn't stand it.

But when somebody's mental health reaches a crisis point...

That ain't the time to kick 'em.

That's the time to remember they're somebody's child...

Somebody's parent...

Somebody's friend...

And most importantly...

Somebody whose life still matters.

Because here's something I believe...

If we spent half as much time checking on people as we do checking their social media...

We'd probably save a whole lot more lives.

Before his breakdown Perez Hilton says he HAD insurance.

And according to recent reports, after battling sepsis, emergency surgery for a blood clot, weeks in the hospital, and multiple medical procedures, the bills still piled up, creating enormous financial pressure before his recent mental health crisis.

Think about that...

This is somebody who's been famous for over 20 years...

Built one of the biggest celebrity gossip websites in America...

Worked television...

Podcasts...

Books...

Social media...

And he still found himself talking about the financial burden of surviving a medical emergency.

That's enough to make anybody stop and think.

❤️ If You Need Help...

If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, hopelessness, or thoughts of self-harm, please don't suffer in silence.

Talk to someone you trust.

Reach out to a family member.

Call a friend.

Speak with a mental health professional.

There is strength in asking for help.

đź’¬ TODAY'S BOOM QUESTION

Do you think social media has made it harder for people to admit when they're struggling mentally?

Let's talk about it...

Respectfully.

Because behind every viral headline...

There's a real person.
