💩🌊SAN FRANCISCO GOT HOW MUCH DOO-DOO WATER GOING INTO THE BAY?! BABY, THAT AIN’T CHOCOLATE MILK! 😭

💩🌊 730 BOOM RADIO | WTF NEWS

CHIIILE...

I saw people talking about San Francisco dumping sewage into the water and thought:

WAIT.

What y'all mean SEWAGE?!

Like...

Rainwater?

Dirty street water?

Some leaves?

A little mud?

NOPE.

We are talking about water that can contain actual RAW HUMAN SEWAGE.

AKA...

DOO-DOO WATER. 💩😭

And before somebody says Lady Red is exaggerating for dramatic purposes...

I WISH I WAS.

According to Heal the Bay's newly released 2025-2026 Beach Report Card, San Francisco has something unusual for a major California coastal city:

A combined sewer system.

That means when you flush your toilet, take a shower, wash clothes AND when rainwater runs off the streets, much of it travels through the same sewer system.

Normally, the system sends that mess to treatment plants.

Everybody gets processed.

Everybody goes where they're supposed to go.

TOILET WATER, STAY IN YOUR LANE.

😂

But when San Francisco gets hammered with heavy rain, there can be more water entering the system than it can handle.

And when THAT happens?

THE SYSTEM OVERFLOWS.

And combined wastewater and stormwater can be discharged into the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco Bay and waterways around the city.

Baby...

EXCUSE TF OUTTA ME?!

💩 SO HOW MUCH OF IT IS ACTUALLY DOO-DOO WATER?

Here's where this gets nasty.

San Francisco's Public Utilities Commission estimates these combined discharges are approximately 90% to 94% stormwater.

Okay.

That sounds better.

Until you realize that means the remaining roughly:

6% TO 10% CAN BE RAW, UNTREATED SEWAGE.

Now I know somebody is saying:

“Lady Red, that's only 6%.”

ONLY?!

Baby, if somebody handed you a glass of water and said:

“Don't worry. It's 94% water and only 6% toilet...”

YOU DRINKING IT?!

😭😭😭😂😂😂

Because I'm NOT.

You can put a lemon in it.

You can put some ice in it.

Put an umbrella in that mf.

I'M STILL NOT DRINKING THE DOO-DOO COLADA.

🤢 AND HERE COMES THE NUMBER THAT SENT ME OVER THE EDGE

During the wet season from November 2025 through March 2026, Heal the Bay says San Francisco's system exceeded its capacity on 13 different days.

That resulted in:

106 discharges

from

26 different locations.

And the organization estimates those discharges contained approximately:

68.8 MILLION GALLONS OF RAW SEWAGE.

SIXTY.

EIGHT.

POINT.

EIGHT.

MILLION GALLONS?!

😭😭😭😭

Baby, stop calling that a spill.

At some point that's a damn SEASONING.

And much of it reportedly ended up around Ocean Beach, Mission Creek and Islais Creek.

Now somebody online converted these numbers into “metric tons,” and THAT'S where Lady Red is pumping the brakes.

Because the official reports I'm looking at measure this stuff primarily in GALLONS, not metric tons.

And baby...

68.8 MILLION GALLONS IS NASTY ENOUGH.

We don't need to remix the shit.

Literally.

😭😂

🌧️ WHY TF DOES SAN FRANCISCO HAVE A SYSTEM LIKE THIS?!

Because San Francisco's sewer infrastructure is OLD.

The city says it is the only coastal city in California that predominantly uses a combined sewer system, meaning stormwater and wastewater are collected in the same network of pipes.

And this isn't something that happens every time somebody flushes the toilet.

That's important.

Under ordinary conditions, wastewater is routed to treatment facilities.

The big problem happens during heavy rainfall, when all that stormwater comes rushing into the same system.

Basically:

Toilet:

“I need to get through.”

Shower:

“Me too.”

Washing machine:

“Coming through.”

Storm:

“BITCH, MOVE.”

🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️

Sewer system:

“I CAN'T HOLD ALL THIS SHIT!”

💥💩🌊

😭😭😭

😳 AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN FIGHTING SAN FRANCISCO OVER THIS

This ain't just Lady Red standing here with Lysol.

The EPA and California regulators sued San Francisco in 2024 over wastewater discharges.

According to the government's complaint, since 2016 San Francisco had averaged more than 1.8 BILLION gallons per year of untreated combined sewage discharged into creeks, San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

BILLION?!

Hold TF on.

I thought MILLION had already ruined my afternoon.

😭

And regulators warned that untreated sewage can contain pathogens including:

E. COLI.

Now I'm standing at the beach looking at the water like:

“WHO WAS IN HERE BEFORE ME?!”

😂😂😂

⚖️ AND THEN SAN FRANCISCO TOOK THE EPA ALL THE WAY TO THE SUPREME COURT

This part has gotten twisted online too.

In March 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in San Francisco's favor in a dispute over certain requirements EPA had put into the city's wastewater permit.

BUT...

Before somebody runs to Facebook screaming:

“THE SUPREME COURT SAID SAN FRANCISCO CAN DUMP SHIT IN THE OCEAN!”

NO.

THAT IS NOT WHAT THE COURT SAID.

😂

The case concerned what the Court called “end-result” requirements in EPA permits.

Basically, the Supreme Court said EPA couldn't impose certain broad requirements that simply made San Francisco responsible for the resulting quality of the receiving water without giving the city sufficiently specific discharge requirements.

The ruling did not repeal the Clean Water Act.

It did not eliminate wastewater permits.

And it damn sure didn't create:

THE FEDERAL RIGHT TO DOO-DOO.

😭😂

EPA can still establish specific discharge limits and pollution-control requirements. Even San Francisco described the ruling as requiring EPA to give cities clear instructions about what they must do to prevent pollution.

😂 BUT LADY RED HAS QUESTIONS

Because I need to know what the BEACH PROTOCOL is after one of these overflow events.

Y'all got a sign?

A siren?

A text alert?

Somebody standing at Ocean Beach with a bullhorn?

“ATTENTION! PLEASE STAY OUT THE WATER! SOMEBODY FLUSHED SACRAMENTO!”

😭😭😭😂😂😂

Because imagine being a tourist.

You fly into San Francisco.

Get your hotel.

Put on your cute little swimsuit.

Head down to the water.

Some local sees you:

“You getting in there?”

“Yeah!”

Local:

“It rained yesterday.”

“And?”

Local:

👀

“I WOULDN'T.”

😭😭😭

NO.

Don't give me a mysterious “I wouldn't.”

TELL ME WHY.

Because now I'm standing ankle-deep in the Pacific wondering if something floating past me is kelp or...

SOMETHING SOMEBODY ATE TUESDAY.

😭💩😂

🌊 BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY A SERIOUS WATER-QUALITY ISSUE

Behind all the jokes, raw sewage in waterways is not funny.

It can contain bacteria, viruses and other pathogens capable of making people sick.

Water-quality experts have previously advised people to avoid swimming in affected areas after major sewage releases because contamination can persist while water circulates and dilutes the pollution.

And San Francisco says it continues operating and investing in its wastewater infrastructure while monitoring water quality.

So no, this isn't:

“SAN FRANCISCO JUST DECIDED TO DUMP EVERYBODY'S TOILET STRAIGHT INTO THE OCEAN.”

That's misleading.

It's an aging combined sewer system that can become overwhelmed during heavy rain, resulting in permitted or unauthorized wastewater discharges depending on the circumstances.

BUT...

When you're talking about estimates involving tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage during one wet season...

Baby...

WE STILL GOT A DOO-DOO PROBLEM.

💩😭

And Lady Red needs everybody in San Francisco government to get together and figure this shit out.

Because there are certain sentences I don't ever want to hear before going to the beach.

“Watch out for sharks.”

Okay.

“Strong currents today.”

Understood.

“There's a rip current.”

Thank you.

But:

“THE WATER IS ABOUT 7% TOILET TODAY.”

B***H, I'M GOING HOME.

😭😭😭😂😂😂

I'll sit on the sand.

I'll look at the ocean.

I'll take pictures.

I'll eat my little sandwich.

BUT THESE FEET AIN'T TOUCHING SHIT.

Literally.

😂💩🌊
