Baby, international relations done turned into a WHO GON' CHECK ME, BOO? competition. 😂
President Donald Trump and Canada are back at it, and this time tariffs ain't the only thing being thrown across the border.
The U.S. has slapped 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion worth of Canadian goods, after trade negotiations between the two countries fell apart. Canada has already announced plans for dollar-for-dollar retaliation beginning September 8.
But THEN Ontario Premier Doug Ford entered the chat.
And Doug apparently said:
“Y'ALL WANNA PLAY? WE GOT ELECTRICITY.”
😭😭😭
Ford warned that if this trade fight keeps escalating, Canada could consider restricting exports of electricity and critical minerals to the United States. Those electricity exports matter particularly to places including Michigan, Minnesota and New York.
Sir.
You don't threaten somebody who got access to the circuit breaker!
😂😂😂
🇺🇸 TRUMP: “50% TARIFFS!”
🇨🇦 Canada:
“That's cute. How attached are y'all to... LIGHTS?”
💡👀
Now before everybody in America starts charging their phones and buying candles, Canada has NOT shut America's electricity off. Ford is talking about what Canada could use as retaliation if this thing keeps going left.
That's an important difference.
Because I already know somebody's auntie is about to post:
“CANADA CUTTING THE POWER OFF TONIGHT! SHARE BEFORE FACEBOOK DELETES!”
NO, PAM.
PUT THE CANDLES BACK.
😂😂😂
But Ford certainly isn't whispering. He told CTV on Monday that Trump could “kiss my a--” over the escalating tariffs, while emphasizing that Canada has resources the United States needs.
BABY!
This ain't diplomacy.
THIS IS A FAMILY REUNION ARGUMENT WITH FLAGS.
😂
And Canada isn't just talking electricity. Officials have discussed critical minerals and other resources as potential leverage if the economic fight gets uglier. Meanwhile, Trump has now threatened 50% tariffs on Canadian-made cars, trucks and auto parts beginning January 1, 2027.
And here's where regular folks need to pay attention.
Tariffs aren't some magical bill Canada receives in the mail addressed:
TO: CANADAFROM: DONALD TRUMPAMOUNT DUE: A WHOLE LOTTA MONEY
Tariffs are taxes collected by the importing country from importers. Those additional costs can ultimately get passed along through supply chains and into prices businesses and consumers pay.
So while politicians are standing at the border yelling:
“I BET YOU WON'T!”
Regular people are standing in Walmart looking at a price tag going:
“WHY THIS COST $14 NOW?!”
😭
🔴 LADY RED SAYS...
America and Canada have spent decades building economies that are tangled together tighter than Christmas lights somebody threw in a box in 2007.
Cars cross the border.
Parts cross the border.
Electricity crosses the border.
Raw materials cross the border.
Businesses on BOTH sides depend on that relationship.
So a trade war between these two countries ain't exactly:
“I'M NEVER SPEAKING TO YOU AGAIN!”
It's more like:
“I'M NEVER SPEAKING TO YOU AGAIN... BUT CAN YOU PASS ME THAT CAR PART?”
😂😂😂
And Canada clearly wants Trump to understand they have cards to play too.
Trump said:
“50% TARIFF.”
Canada said:
“BET.”
Doug Ford walked over toward the imaginary breaker box like:
“NOW SAY SOMETHING ELSE.”
⚡😂😂😂
Nobody has turned the lights out.
But somebody definitely put their hand on the switch.
And THAT'S today's...
🚨 WTF!!
Because apparently the United States and Canada have gone from international trade partners to two neighbors arguing over the property line.
Meanwhile Mexico somewhere minding its damn business like:
👀
“I ain't getting in that.”
😂😂😂
