🚨 BODY FOUND IN BACKSEAT OF UNUSED CHICAGO POLICE VEHICLE AT FAR SOUTH SIDE STATION

CHICAGO... now THIS is the kind of story that leaves you with more questions than answers.

Chicago police say the body of a man was discovered Thursday morning in the backseat of a police vehicle parked at the Calumet District station in Pullman.

And here's the part that makes you go, WAIT... WHAT?!

Police say this wasn't a squad car that had been driving around the city all night. The vehicle was reportedly NEW, UNUSED and had NEVER even been placed into service.

The discovery was made around 9:15 a.m. in the 700 block of East 112th Street, while vehicles at the station were being moved around.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not publicly identified him or released his age, and authorities have not yet explained how he got inside that vehicle in the first place.

CPD says foul play is not currently suspected and indicated the man's remains may have been inside the vehicle for some time.

And THAT raises another whole set of questions.

How long is “some time?”

How did he get into the backseat of a brand-new police vehicle?

Was the vehicle unlocked?

Was it sitting somewhere accessible to the public?

And if he had been there for a while, how long had that vehicle been sitting there before somebody finally discovered him?

Now, before Facebook University starts handing out detective badges, police have NOT announced that anyone harmed this man, and they have NOT said officers were involved in his death. At this point, investigators haven't publicly explained what happened at all.

Area Two detectives are conducting a death investigation, and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to determine the man's cause and manner of death.

So right now, Chicago, this one is a giant question mark sitting in the backseat of a police car.

We'll be watching for the man's identity, the medical examiner's findings and, most importantly, an explanation of how somebody ended up dead inside an unused CPD vehicle at a police station.
