This is not the ending anyone was praying for.

After nearly two weeks of searching, worrying and holding onto hope, 63-year-old Alisa Goods has been found dead in Las Vegas.

Goods, a New York grandmother of five, disappeared on August 8 while visiting Las Vegas. According to her family, she left the home of a longtime friend to go to a nearby CVS and never returned. She was officially reported missing two days later.

What followed was nearly two weeks of anguish for a family desperately trying to bring their loved one home.

The situation became even more frightening when family members began receiving strange messages from Alisa's phone.

The Suspicious Messages From Alisa's Phone

Days after Alisa disappeared, her family began receiving strange messages from her phone that immediately raised red flags.

According to her family, the messages started coming on August 12, four days after she was last seen. Whoever was using Alisa's phone began asking relatives for help and money, including gas money.

That didn't make sense to her family because Alisa didn't drive.

The person reportedly gave an explanation involving trouble using credit cards at a gas station, but the story only made her relatives more suspicious.

Then things got even stranger.

Messages from Alisa's phone began asking family members to send Bitcoin, and one communication reportedly mentioned a person named “Kelly.” Alisa's relatives said they didn't know who Kelly was.

Her son also reportedly received communication from someone posing as Alisa and requesting Bitcoin.

At that point, her family feared they weren't actually communicating with Alisa at all. They began questioning whether someone else had gotten possession of her phone while she was missing.

Those messages understandably added another frightening layer to the search. However, there has been no determination that the people who accessed or used Alisa's phone were responsible for her death. Authorities have not established the suspicious messages as proof that she was abducted or killed by whoever was behind them.

What the messages did do was leave Alisa's family with even more questions during an already terrifying search for someone they loved.

Her family traveled to Las Vegas, searched for answers and continued publicly pleading for help.

Sadly, those prayers for her safe return were answered with heartbreaking news.

Early Thursday morning, a woman was discovered in a drainage area near Harry Reid International Airport's Terminal 1 parking garage. Authorities later identified her as Alisa Goods.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say airport surveillance footage from August 8 appears to show Alisa falling down an embankment, getting back up and then collapsing. Police say she did not move afterward, and the location where she fell could not be seen from the street.

As of now, authorities have not publicly released the official cause or manner of her death. There are still questions surrounding exactly what happened during Alisa's final hours.

And that's where I want us to be careful.

There were suspicious messages. There were unanswered questions. There was nearly two weeks of uncertainty. But until investigators establish exactly what happened, we should not turn those unanswered questions into accusations.

Tonight, this is about Alisa.

She wasn't simply a missing-person headline.

She was somebody's mother.

Somebody's grandmother.

Somebody's sister.

Somebody's aunt.

Somebody's friend.
