⚾🔥 CUBS CLINCH! NORTH SIDE IS HEADED BACK TO THE PLAYOFFS!

📍CHICAGO — Somebody tell Wrigleyville to clear its schedule because THE CHICAGO CUBS ARE GOING BACK TO THE PLAYOFFS!

The Cubs officially punched their postseason ticket Thursday afternoon, defeating the Miami Marlins 2–1 at Wrigley Field and guaranteeing themselves one of the National League’s three Wild Card spots.

And baby, they didn't just clinch.

HISTORY showed up to Wrigley too.

Pete Crow-Armstrong stole his 40th base of the season in the first inning, giving him 45 home runs and 40 stolen bases and making him only the seventh player in Major League Baseball history to have a 40-homer, 40-steal season.

SEVENTH.

Not seventh this year.

SEVENTH. EVER.

So naturally, the Wrigley crowd started hitting him with the “M-V-P! M-V-P!” chants.

Because if you're going to make baseball history, you might as well do it at home while 40,000 people lose their minds.

But the Cubs still had a game to win.

Miami struck first with a run in the third inning before Seiya Suzuki blasted his 26th home run in the fifth to tie the game.

Then in the sixth, Ian Happ tripled and Nico Hoerner brought him home with the go-ahead single.

2–1 Cubs.

And that's all they needed.

Starting pitcher Matthew Boyd gave Chicago seven strong innings, allowing only one run on five hits, and Ryan Zeferjahn shut the door with a perfect ninth inning.

BALLGAME.

PLAYOFFS.

CHICAGO.

The Cubs are now 88–71 and headed to the postseason for the second consecutive year.

And that's significant.

This is the first time the Cubs have reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since their four-year postseason run from 2015 through 2018, which of course included that little thing Chicago waited 108 years for...

THE 2016 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP.

👀 I'm not saying anything.

I'm just reminding y'all what happened the last time we started stacking playoff appearances together.

Now here's where Chicago gets REALLY interesting.

The White Sox clinched a playoff berth Thursday too, beating Kansas City 9–1.

Yes.

THE CUBS AND WHITE SOX ARE BOTH GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS.

That has happened in the same season only four times:

1906.2008. 2020. And now 2026.

So Chicago baseball fans, prepare yourselves.

North Side.

South Side.

Everybody suddenly remembering where their baseball hats are.

And every person who hasn't watched a game since April is about to walk into work talking about:

“I've been telling y'all about this team ALL YEAR.”

No you haven't, Gerald.

😂

But there's still business to handle.

The Cubs have clinched their postseason spot, but their final Wild Card seeding is still unsettled, meaning these final regular-season games could determine whether Chicago opens its Wild Card Series at Wrigley Field or on the road.

So we're IN.

We just don't know where we're sitting yet.

Either way...

OCTOBER BASEBALL IS COMING BACK TO THE NORTH SIDE.

And Pete Crow-Armstrong?

45 HOME RUNS.40 STOLEN BASES.BASEBALL HISTORY.

Chicago has plenty to celebrate tonight.

GO CUBS GO! ⚾🐻🔥
