😳 “THAT IS NOT MY MAMA!” DETROIT FAMILY FINDS ANOTHER WOMAN IN MOM’S CASKET AFTER ALLEGED CREMATION MIX-UP

There are mistakes.

Then there are mistakes so devastating that “we’re sorry” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

A Detroit family says they arrived at Hutchison Funeral Home on East Seven Mile Road expecting one final opportunity to see and say goodbye to their mother, 61-year-old Kimberlly Kaye Moore.

Instead, they say they found another deceased woman prepared in their mother’s clothing, wig and makeup.

And their mother? The family says they were told she had apparently been cremated before the viewing. 

💔 THEY KNEW IMMEDIATELY SOMETHING WAS WRONG

Moore’s daughter, Bianca Robinson, had gone to the funeral home to help with her mother’s final preparations when she realized the woman being presented to the family was not her mother.

Family members told local reporters the unidentified woman had been dressed using Moore’s personal items. They recognized physical differences that confirmed what they already knew in their hearts: this was somebody else’s loved one. 

And Lady Red is going to tread carefully here because this family is grieving.

But baby...

That's not forgetting the flowers.

That's not misspelling somebody's name in the obituary.

That's not putting the wrong song in the slideshow.

THAT. IS. SOMEBODY. ELSE.

😢 THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO GET ONE LAST GOODBYE

That's what makes this story especially heartbreaking.

A viewing isn't just another item on the funeral schedule. For many families, it is the final moment to touch a loved one's hand, see their face and begin accepting that they're really gone.

Moore's family says that opportunity was taken from them.

Now they are not only grieving their mother, they're trying to understand what happened to her remains and how a different woman ended up prepared as her. 

And there's another family somewhere in this nightmare too.

Whose mother, grandmother, sister, auntie or friend was the woman in that casket?

She deserves dignity too.

⚠️ FUNERAL HOME LAUNCHES REVIEW

Hutchison Funeral Home has acknowledged the family's concerns, apologized for what they experienced and announced an internal review to determine exactly what happened.

Detroit police also responded amid the dispute, and the family continues seeking answers.

Until that investigation is completed, exactly how the apparent identification and cremation error occurred has not been officially established.

But whatever the final explanation is, this family deserved better.

Because when people hand their loved one over to a funeral home, they're placing an extraordinary amount of trust in strangers.

There is no redo button on somebody's final goodbye.

So yes, Lady Red can find sarcasm in almost anything.

But underneath the “How in the entire hell did THIS happen?” is a family that lost its mother once...

and then walked into a funeral home and experienced a second kind of loss they never should have had to endure.
