CHICAGO, IL | Lady Red for 730 BOOM Radio
WAIT.
A. DAMN. MINUTE.
Didn't we JUST do this?!
Whoever is sitting in the control room cueing up Chicago's weather needs to PACK THEIR DESK AND GO HOME.Ā šš
Because somebody clearly has the weather playlist stuck on repeat.
Thunderstorms. Wind. Hail. Tornadoes. Flooding. Power outages.
Then we get three cute little days where the sun comes outside acting innocent.
And NOW...
āSevere weather possible Wednesday.ā
EXCUSE ME?!
WHO PRESSED REPLAY?!Ā š”š
And unfortunately, this isn't just Lady Red yelling at a cloud.
The National Weather Service says strong to severe thunderstorms could return Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the greatest severe-weather threat focused east of I-55 and south of I-80.Ā
ABC7 is also reporting a severe-weather threat for the Chicago area Wednesday, including a tornado risk for the south suburbs and Northwest Indiana.Ā
THE SOUTH SUBURBS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA?!
Again?!
Baby, Northwest Indiana ain't even finished plugging the refrigerator back in!
Some residents went nearly two weeks without powerĀ after the August 11 storms, and Indiana officials are STILL asking questions about NIPSCO's preparation and response.
And Mother Nature already tore through northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana earlier this summer. The June 11 outbreak produced at least 52 tornadoes across the region, according to preliminary National Weather Service numbers.
Then July 27 showed up with tornadoes, damaging winds, hail AND flooding.
Because apparently weather comes in a DELUXE COMBO MEALĀ now. š
Then August said:
āHold my beer.ā
The August 11 derecho brought another round of destructive storms across northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana, including damaging winds and enormous hail in parts of Indiana.
And now somebody somewhere looked at the calendar and said:
āYou know what August 26 needs?ā
MORE DAMN STORMS.
NO IT DON'T.
šššš
At this point I need to speak to the manager of the atmosphere.
Because whoever is responsible for scheduling this š© is doing entirely too much.
WE WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL OUR SUBSCRIPTION.
Give Arizona some.
Send Florida a little.
Slide some over to Iowa.
Hell, put it in a Ziploc bag and save it for next year.
CHICAGO HAS HAD ENOUGH.
And I HOPE y'all idiots are done cloud-seeding.
You know EXACTLY who I'm talking about.
Tornado sirens going off...
Sky turning green...
Trees bending sideways...
Weather man saying āTAKE COVER NOWā...
And somebody standing on the porch barefoot with their phone pointed at the sky:
āOOOOO LOOK AT THAT CLOUD!ā
GET.
YOUR.
ASS.
IN.
THE.
HOUSE.
šš
You are NOT Jim Cantore.
You do NOT work for the Weather Channel.
Nobody needs your Facebook Live titled:
āTORNADO COMING TOWARDS ME!!! ššŖļøā
Ma'am, if the tornado is coming toward you, perhaps the appropriate next step is NOT TO CONTINUE FILMING THE TORNADO.
And don't get in the car chasing it either!
What exactly is the plan when you catch it?!
āGotcha!ā
IT'S A TORNADO, FOOL! š
Now beneath all the jokes, this part is serious.
If a warning is issued where you are, GET INSIDE.Ā Go to a basement if you have one. Otherwise, get to a small interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows. Don't stand outside trying to determine whether the cloud has officially earned tornado status.
That's what radar and trained meteorologists are for.
The National Weather Service specifically warns that tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms.
So yes, I'm irritated.
Because Mother Nature has been cutting up all damn summer, and whoever has possession of her aux cord needs to TAKE IT.
We don't need another remix.
We don't need the extended version.
We don't need Storms: The Director's Cut.
Give us 78 degrees, a little breeze and some clouds minding their damn business.
THAT'S IT.
Until then, charge your phones, keep an eye on official weather alerts, know where you're going if warnings are issued, and please...
STOP GOING OUTSIDE TO LOOK AT THE DAMN TORNADO.
šŖļø: āSeek shelter immediately.ā
Chicago:
š āLemme go see.ā
NOOOOOOOO!Ā šššš
IT HITS DIFFERENT. EVERY TIME. BOOM! š„
