WHITNEY HOUSTON RECORDED “I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT” IN A HURRY BECAUSE SIS HAD SHOPPING TO DO! 😂🛍️

Baby, THIS might be the most Whitney Houston story I've heard in a minute.

Babyface was recently honoring Whitney at the Whitney E. Houston Legacy of Love Gala in Atlanta when he decided to tell everybody what happened the first time he got in the studio with THE VOICE.

And apparently Whitney had somewhere more important to be.

THE MALL.

According to Babyface, he and Whitney were at LaCoco Studios in Alpharetta, Georgia, working on “I'm Your Baby Tonight.” This was their first time working together, so imagine Babyface. He's probably thinking:

This is Whitney Houston. We are about to spend HOURS perfecting this record.

Whitney?

“Can y'all hurry up? I'm trying to go shopping.”

😭😭😭

Babyface recalled that Whitney was in a rush because she wanted to get to the mall, so they finished the song quickly.

And here's the disrespectful part...

SHE STILL KILLED IT.

Babyface said exactly that. “She killed it.” 

Now THAT is talent.

Some singers need hot tea.

A vocal coach.

Three candles.

The lights dimmed.

A humidifier.

Four hours to warm up.

A prayer circle.

And somebody in the control room whispering, “Whenever you're ready...”

Whitney said:

“BABY, HIT RECORD. MACY'S CLOSE AT 9.” 😂😂😂

And then proceeded to record a song that became a No. 1 record. “I'm Your Baby Tonight,” written and produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid, topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B chart.

Do you understand the level of disrespectful talent that is?!

She wasn't rushing because the record wasn't important.

She was rushing because apparently Whitney knew:

“I'M WHITNEY HOUSTON. I'LL HANDLE THIS. BUT THAT SALE AIN'T GONNA HANDLE ITSELF.” 😂🛍️

And Babyface's memory actually says something beautiful about their relationship. He explained that although he knew Whitney was this enormous superstar, working with her didn't feel like he was working with some untouchable celebrity. Their relationship became much more comfortable and sibling-like.

The story was shared during the Legacy of Love Gala held on August 8, the weekend of what would have been Whitney's 63rd birthday. The celebration honored her music and legacy, with Babyface performing along with a surprise appearance from Chanté Moore.

But I'm still stuck at the mall.

Because imagine Babyface sitting in the studio listening to Whitney Houston absolutely DESTROY that vocal...

And Whitney looking through the glass like:

“Okay, was that good enough? Because I saw some shoes.”

And then there was WHITNEY.

The woman apparently turned in a No. 1 record with one eye on the microphone and the other one on the mall directory.
